There are many methods to scam people when you know their bank account number. You can give them money (easy), but you can also take their money (thats illegal, but if you do it right, you get the money)

no you can't take money from my bank account after I done or got a sepa payment.
maybe 3rd world banks work like that but not european banks.

you could fake a sepa payment. Again, that would be illegal (and it would be much more illegal that tricking people to gift things to you). But lets say, you live outside of europe and dont mind stealing peoples money, thats possible. (Things like these are pretty common for E-Mail scams)

nobody can steal anything when they have my IBAN and or BIC.

What do i need to get money from you? Your IBAN, BIC, and some letter saying that you agree with my company taking money of your account (signed, of course). If i have your IBAN+BIC, i can create such a letter. I'll show that your bank, and they think thats legit. You will notice that, and you will call the police. But they wont find me, because I don't live in europe. I probably live somewhere in Nigeria (most scams are located there). Nobody will find me, because i paid the police and have multiple identities and so on. Your money is also sent to different accounts, so you cant find where it went. Many people have done that before, and if you search for "scam baiting", you'll find more information on e-mail scamming. I certainly would not give any personal information to a stranger.

well that makes it shady af to me. there are many many many ways to for you to send money to them, but only one for them to send money to you, and it is historically the last one you should want to use. I guarantee it is hurting their profits.

I have no clue what banks in your country have been doing to people the last 100 years but the eurpean payment system is great.
