Numbers are updated quicker as its a live counter.

Edit 1 : Removed Apex and Fornite as it unintentionally caused unnecessary fear mongering.

Please disregard the Slander by 2 posters found in this post. These are simply first page Google search results when you search for "Live player count + (name of game)" to show a comparison between Steam's data found here : https://store.steampowered.com/stats/

live update data on player count found by searching Google.

If anything, those slanderous comments below prove more about the nature of some posters and how far they are willing to go to destroy their own community than to see something in a positive light which was the initial intention of this post. To show the margin between by the second updates vs Steam's own player stat updates.

False accusation, with malicious intent towards OP.

Ad Revenue is generated based on Volume. CS GO discussion wouldn't be a suitable place for that because

1) Most people don't go past the first page

2) Most posts are 50 per page limit, and default is not 50 therefore not enough attention

3) Not enough Volume of lurkers

4) Most Forum readers who are likely to see this post are regulars, and have seen a lot of my posts including Moderators and they know I have a clean record.

5) Readers will know by experience who to believe, and my post history is publicly available here :

b) As is abundantly evident, there is no instance of any irregular or illegal activity for personal benefit or gain.

c) I have been a member for many months here.

6) And finally, the most amusing point made by 2 posters falsely claiming this post is for Ad Revenue.
Allow me. Ad Revenue from 2 guys wouldn't be enough to buy 1 of them a lollypop let alone benefit me in any way

There are plenty of other points that could be made, but at this point it reveals more about some posters and how they see Numbers and Facts, and how they comprehend structured messages in a discussion.

This has greater implications for others who may have to deal with the unpleasant and unfortunate (but certain) collision with one or both of these posters.

If anything, this post could perhaps enlighten those who may see the use of slander by these individuals again, and consider whether replying to them is suitable at all.

I am a regular and active poster, profile privacy and abiding by the rules IS a thing on Steam. Just to be clear as per Steam TOS, Valve allows me to not only have made this account, but they have allowed me to play on it. Therefore, your personal validation is completely unnecessary between other parties sharing of information, however you have a right to have your opinion, or perhaps its a privledge, you decide.

Or you are just trying to use FEAR as a tactic to dissuade others from learning the truth.

There is nothing to hide. When I compared the Steam Stats to the Live counter, the Live Counter number is higher, as it appears to update quicker, and Steam's takes longer.

Just admit what you see when you do decide to get over your fears :)

Not sure what the actual use case of this is, but nobody said websites gotta DO anything useful, I've made some pointless ones like this.

You are going to need a Professional to do what you are trying to do, your experience is not enough.

18 million players a month you say? Biggest FPS game in the world you say? Pfff. :)

If so, why aren't you playing right now instead of worrying about my [First it was a ScamBot, and now its Adware] ?

And like I said, CS GO numbers ARE high, but its not the biggest FPS in the world. That's all there is to it.

There are also other sites that do this too. I just wanted to test the accuracy of Steam itself because I'm sure you know all about fudging.

The actual use case is curiosity to see data from another source. Many companies show their data publicly, like Valve, and many don't have any easy way to get to their information.

Valve shows a good deal of data out in the open. I decided to match the numbers and they are within margin due to the time difference between the updates.

Other companies however don't openly share that data. So I decided to put it up. I don't see why you have centered yourself to perceiving simple numbers as a threat.

There are MANY Other sites that do the same.

If you use Google, you can search for terms such as :

Live Player Count for CS GO

Live Player Count for Apex Legends

etc etc.

This was one of the few that were on Google's front page.

Just to compare this number to see what the hula hoops being tossed around in here are all about. Its always good to see things from outside perspectives once in a while.

If you are seeing ads you have other technical problems. Ublock Origin does not show 1 single ad even being detected. Here's a copy / paste from my Ublock Origin extension :
