Mic Fix For CSGO 2020! How To Set An Input Device For CSGO!! (WINDOWS 10)
So for the past few weeks iv'e scoured the internet looking for a fix for my microphone issues and what do you know none of them worked. After 6 days of angrily searching i came across a windows 10 setting menu where you can set your "SPECIFIC" mic for CSGO. As we all know Valve removed the feature to set a mic in-game when the new panorama UI rolled out in 2018 and they never gave us and exact fix for the "Mic Issues" that started taking place. So lets get started.

Step 1: Go to your bottom right hand of your desktop task-bar and right click on the speaker icon. Then click "Open Sound Settings". If this does not show up for you just search for it in Cortana or go to your PC settings.

Step 2: In the sound settings menu make sure you have the correct selected Input and Output devices. Then scroll down to "Advanced Sound Options" and click "App Volume And Device Preferences".

Step 3: Open CSGO and make sure it shows up in the app list. Now scroll down to the CSGO Tab and your input and output should be automatically set to default.

Step 4: Select your correct input and output devices for your game. If your not sure then you can always change settings if need be.

Step 5: Restart your game and join a match to test out your mic which should now be working.

I'm glad to help anybody who has been having these issues as they are frustrating for everyone. This is the only fix I have discovered at the moment as this is the only one of 2020 to actually work. Please comment down below if you have any questions and I will try to get to all of them and assist anyone with problems. Also let me know if this works for you or if I have encountered some serious luck on troubleshooting this problem.

CSGO uses your default Windows input device now.

I don't think it's a problem they're going to fix, this is just how it works.

The problem is a bug has been going around where csgo isn't detecting default devices and where this is the case valve support told me nothing they could think of on what to do about this. So this is just how you can set a specific device for your actual program in which has worked for me and others it just seems to be a situational fix and an alternative method to try. I totally agree with you that valve isn't going to fix this problem but just trying to find more ways to cope with the problem

This happens because the headset is being used for both AUDIO and MICROPHONE.
To fix this here are the steps that worked for me:
1. add microphone to pc
2. disconnect headphones
3. start csgo.
4. close csgo.
5. connect headphones.
6. start csgo
