Cpu overheating when monitor changes from 60hz to 75hz
My pc runs stable with my monitor at 60hz at 1050p resolution but I have a 75hz monitor and when I change the resolution to 1080p to get to 75hz my cpu instantly heats up same with motherboard when I’m in game. If my fps is set to 75 it doesn’t heat up as quick but it’s to choppy. When fps set to 0 it starts throttling my game almost instantly and game becomes unstable. Mobo goes to 65+ degrees instantly in game and goes below 40 instantly when I minimize game. What could be causing this? Is 15hz enough to overheat my cpu causing motherboard to overheat? Is there any fix?

what brand mobo. download their software and change cpu fan profile to custom and set it to ramp up earlier and 100% @ 71C

check your thermal paste

Then it probably has clogged heatsinks or needs new thermal paste.

I take it you didn't break it open and check and clean it.

that doesn't sound right, monitor has nothing to do with CPU overheating. my ryzen 5 3600 is doing just fine at 400-500 fps with stock cooler

It’s what’s happening though or I wouldn’t be posting on here.. 60hz settings to 75hz settings in csgo overheats cpu which is making mobo overheat

raising hz does not do anything but make it smoother. As hz is just related to game fps, so if you are getting 75 fps in the game then it should overheat even when the monitor is at 60hz. You should probably get better cooling or look at task manager to see if cpu or gpu is at 100%

Then its a problem with your actual pc. As you would have 0 difference changing you monitor to 75hz that would cause overheating because hz = fps

Then your cooling is ♥♥♥♥ and need cleaning or better fans or both
