[SOLVED] Blue yeti microphone not working with CSGO
Alright so, I've done a lot of googling and even started a thread over on reddit to figure out WTF is going on with my mic and why it doesn't work with CSGO. Most of the threads you can find while googling this are all old (like 2014-2016) and many are from before the "friends + chat" update to steam.

Long story short, I've done all the usual stuff - my mic is definitely my default device, it's definitely the only installed mic, all my in-game settings are right, and so on. Moreover the mic works in Discord and works fine when I test it in Windows 10. I've tried fiddling with turning off exclusive app control for the mic as well.

Here's the reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/96sg5a/blue_yeti_mic_doesnt_want_to_work_with_csgo_works/

Here's related screen grabs:

::EDIT:: In my specific case, Windows 10 had decided to default to not allowing apps to use my mic (yet despite this Discord stil worked). After following the steps in this thread ( https://superuser.com/a/1291986 ) my mic worked!

Change to Open Mic ??

Also ingame, start a offline with bots match. use console command
voice_loopback 1
to hear yourself. and check
voice_enable "1"
voice_scale > "0"
voice_mixer_boost (def. 0) maybe increase?
voice_mixer_mute "0"
voice_mixer_volume "1.0"
voice_modenable "1"
voice_inputfromfile "0"
voice_system_enable "1"
Thanks for the suggestions. Tried all of those things and still no result. When I press my use mic key in game, I don't even get the transmitting icon you're supposed to get.

Dumb question, but is the key bound to +voicerecord ? :D
Type console:
bind <yourKEY>

hit enter, and it shows you what its bound to it.
Yes, my bind is properly set. I'll have to check the last part of what you edited your post above with, as I didn't see that before.

In Windows Sound settings, when you talk you see green bar rising up on the mic there, yup? Did you checked the Communication tab there, is it set to "do nothing"?
Oh, and rightclick into the white Recording list there, where you see the Mic, and enable "deactivated" and "unplugged" devices. Maybe you will see another device that is set as communications device.
My communication tab is set to "do nothing."

The green bar doesn't automatically rise just from that screen, but when I go to properties -> listen -> check "listen to this device" I can hear everything just fine.

There are no other devices which are set to either default or default communications devices, even including disconnected and disabled devices.

Does your mic have an on/off switch? If so, make sure it’s on

When you doubleclick that Mic in Windows Sound settings, the last tab "advanced", both checkboxes checked?

Run Steam as admin?

Hm, your first Screenshot there. Is the Mic without the leading - choosen? In the steam chat settings thingy window there.

PS: I delete my other posts here, because they didnt helped. feel free to delete your replies too, to have your thread tidy :D

Deinstall Nvidia Expirience?
Your first suggestion: I've tried it both ways (with them checked on and with them checked off) and neither works with Steam/CSGO.

I turned exclusivity back on and chose the Mic without the leading -, and still no luck.

I'm leaving the posts/replies in case someone searches this issue in the future and any of the suggestions so far end up working for them.

I did find a thread on Reddit which suggested uninstalling Geforce Experience, so I did so, and that didn't solve the problem either.

It does, and my mic it is on. I can test and hear it through Windows 10.

If you want to get technical, it's a button (the one with the red LED indicator), not a physical switch, but it operates the same way. You can press it and the red light will flash and the mic will effectively be "off." It's labeled mute. https://imgur.com/MhyLoZe

THANKS SO MUCH! I had to click "allow apps to access your microphone" as for whatever reason that was set to off. Made the switch and it worked!

You are technically correct (which is the best kind of correct).

I was answering the spirit of the question, which was "do you have a switch that could ♥♥♥♥ up transmission?"

It's a moot point anyway. The thread has been solved.

I know this thread is old asf but i have tried absolutely everything and still cannot select my blue yeti mic as the audio device for csgo and cannot fathom why.

A temporary fix for me right now is plugging the microphone wire in and out a couple times as well as the other side of the cable. I finally fixed one thing and then this pops up
