can't disable music in menus and in-game after update

okay since the latest update my ears are being blasted with music on start-up and after death in-game, i always had it off before the update but now i can't seem to figure out a way to disable them again. am i missing something ? thanks in advance for reading and please halp me :)

thanks for responding but even after lauch i can't seem to turn them off because they already are, imma try to turn them back up and them re-turn em down

In case you couldn't find the correct volume to ajust you can use commands:

You can put the correct commands in the startup commands in case it is reset every times

nah actualy i'm an idiot. I didn't see that i had one of the option back after the update... So now i don't have any music in the menus like before . now i'm going to check that nice guide you sent to see why i have after death music even it was off. thanks for the help!

okay figured it out thanks to the guide above, Valve just added now sounds the the game bound to other commands to control them i think, so now the guide is maybe out-of-date if i'm correct, and using panorama fixed the sound on death happening so thank you too everyone for helping!

update: i just found out that using snd_music_selection 0 disables the sound after death too. nice

That guide isn't 100% correct. As is just wrote in its comments section:

Your explanation is complete nonsense. This goes up to value "5" and determines which in-game speaker setup you use (for instance, headset stereo, 5.1 surround sound etc.).
