How do I know I am hitting my hops?
So I've heard that when you bhop you gain momentum and that the way to understand whether you hit the hop or not is by the sound that you make when you hit the ground when you hit a hop you hear no sound, if that's right then I'm hitting a lot of hops but I don't seem to be gaining any momentum. Am I doing something wrong, please help.

You hear no sound even if you hop without moving. There is no way to know, it's pretty clear when you hit one. But keep in mind that in a comp game 90% of the time you are hitting just 1 or 2 hops. 3 hops is really hard and 4 hops are really lucky

you're strafing which means youre going past the max speed
You will see yourself move faster /s

cl_showpos 1 will show your movement speed. It does not work in demos/match replays. However, if you bunny hop with a knife you should see a speed of 250+ when you land a bhop.

Its no luck, its called "skillbased Movement" its just very very hard. If you cant do it, then you cant. If you say its just pure luck because you dont hit hops (not specifically you, thats for everyone) then you just suck at this method of movement haha

And to answer your question: you will see/know when you hit the hops, you will be really faster.

Bunny Hopping definitely has a factor of luck in it because the tick has to line up with when you jump, for example it is easier to bunny hop in 128 tick rather than 64 tick because you are more likely to jump on a tick therefore achieving a perfect bunny hop. The "skillbased Movement" aspect comes into play when you and jumping exactly when you land and that's it.

But it is way more important that you hit the hop instead of the Tickrate. If you wont land and jump perfectly, you wont bhop. If you do jump perfectly but the tick wont let you, okay, bad luck, try again. But if you from the beginning cant hit the hops, you wont ever bhop ;)

I agree with you that's why you use the mouse wheel rather than the space bar, so you can hit hops regularly but to gain speed is the lucky part.

jesus... what I meant is, if you cant hit the bhops NOW AT THIS MOMENT, then there is no factor of luck because you lack the ability to use the luck factor. if you practise and LEARN how to hit the hops then you will be able to use the factor tickrate. I was answering on the comment where somebody said that bhopping is mostly luck. please read AND understand

I mean, I think you could have told me that a little more calmly, but it did occur to me after replying that you could have meant that. I just misunderstood because your wording clashed with my morning brain and it caused me to go stupid mode.
