$3,500 PC, 120FPS Max on CS:GO..
[SOLVED] *see bottom of post*

I recently built a new High-End PC and am averaging 110-120 FPS on CS:GO on very low settings.. I have followed many guides on YouTube on how to increase FPS, but something is very wrong.

I play CS:GO on 4:3 stretch with Low settings.

All together my setup is worth around £2,500 ($3,500). There should be no reason I can't easily achieve 300+ FPS

MY PC Specs are as follows;

(All components are less than 3months old)

- GTX 1080ti Overclocked
- Core i7 8700k Baseclock
- 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM
- M.2 SSD (CS is installed on HDD)
- Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 MOBO
- 240hz 1ms Monitor (That is a complete waste of money considering I cant get above 120FPS)

As-per PANJNO's 2018 CS:GO FPS GUIDE I have complete the following steps;

Changed CS:GO launch options (-high -nod3d9ex -threads 12 -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -novid -refresh 240 -freq 240 +mat_queue_mode 1 +exec autoexec.cfg)
Updated to the latest GPU Driver via NVIDIA GeForce (Version: 390.65 Released on 01/08/2018)
Deleted all Temp files in %appdata% and in Prefetch
Entered In-Game Commands (snd_mix_async 1, snd_updateaudiocache, snd_rebuildaudiocache)
Set power Performance to High Performance
Disabled Superfetch
Disabled unnecessary start-up programmes
Turned off all Performance Options > Visual Effects provided by windows
Adjusted all NVIDIA Image and 3D settings as shown at 21:00 on the above video

Honestly, I am lost for what to do. Any help / Advice is greatly appreciated. If anyone is able to jump in a Discord server to talk through what might be going wrong and help me fully resolve the issue, I can assure your efforts won't go unnoticed.

I fixed my issue and I am editing my original post for convinience of others that may have the same issue!

========================== SOLVED ==========================

Found a Fix! :steamhappy:

The Software I am using to track GPU usage and Temps is named NZXT CAM.

It has not caused any grief for me whilst playing Overwatch, however, Disabling CAM whilst running CS:GO takes my FPS from 120-140 to 300+ stable.

I have looked around the CAM settings and there is nothing that would indicate this should be happening. I will continue research and see if any other users have found out why this is happening.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

go to console on csgo and put in fps_max (any number)
sweetdreams Jan 28, 2018 @ 9:36am

how the fck do you have so little fps, even I with an i5 6500 and a gtx 960 gets more FPS than you xD

I would definitly try that. I myself get 130-160 fps on mirage for example with a rx 460 (like 150$) and a fx-4300 (50$) so there's a misconfiguration at your side

Tried "fps_max 0" and "fps_max 300" and no changes. My FPS isn't capping at 120.

Is that Problem csgo exclusive ?
(In other words; are other games running with the fps you can expect with that hardware)

I can run Overwatch on 300 consistent FPS without it dropping below 299.. It must be CS:GO exclusive. I have not played any games other than these two.

Right click on CSGO.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive), click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, check the Disable Fullscreen Optimization box, click Ok. Restart Steam.

Thanks for your suggestion, no fix though.

Thanks, I already did this however.

are u sure csgo is using ur graphics card? it might be using the integrated graphics
Daddy-Salami Jan 28, 2018 @ 10:18am
Isn';t it just using your Intel HD graphics by any chance?

I can't imagine it's using my on board graphics, however, I'm not sure how to check what it is using

If you are running an up to date WIndows 10 press ctrl + shift + esc to bring up task manager > performance> look at the GPU listed there. Then play some cs go and check if your card (which is listed there) . If it's your intel HD graphics that's being 100%, you know there's something wrong.

If that is the case, go to nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings> choose csgo as game> make sure it saids ''use high performance nvidia processor".
