CSGO ranking system is actually broken

I've been playing csgo off and on for around a year or so. I have 123 competitive wins and am still ranked silver 3. Most people may immediately reply with, "Well then you probably deserve to be there," although I have a few things that give me reason to believe otherwise. After my first 10 matches EVER PLAYING CSGO, I was placed into Silver 4--higher than I am now. Afterwards, I even ranked up to silver elite. After coming back a month or two later, I deranked after losing a few matches which was understandable since I hadn't played in so long. The part I don't understand is that since I first received my rank, I have honestly gotten much better. I top frag around 7/10 games. I even played a some ESEA pugs where I was able to hold my own. I think the mm system is broken because at this point, silver is full of smurfs and trolls. One of these days I plan on buying csgo on sale to try and start over on another account.


TLDR; CSGO gave me a higher rank when I was AIDS.. now that I'm decent and an even lower rank, I still can't rank up.

The ranking system isn't really designed to take inactive players into account. When you leave and come back, ranked s3 but playing like a gold/mg, the system needs time to gain confidence in what your rank should be, since your performance is completely anomalous and it doesn't know whether it's a performance spurt or if you've genuinely improved.

The rank system isn't broken, just play more than once every couple of months.

i don't think the hours matter.. i played with someone who had 650 hours the other day and I thought he had under 100

Hey I won a game yesterday but deranked. Im not complaining mainly cause getting ranked up is kinda easy
