Why not CS 1.6 or source for free?

It would be nice to bring back to life those ones too :) I'd like to compare and play our maps in their old versions, but I'm not paying for dead games. Hopes for this one!

1.6 is not dead. There are still plenty of community servers.

For CS:GO, Valve can profit from selling Prime and transaction fees on Steam Market. This does not exist for the older games. The only profit would be to sell the game itself on Steam Market.

Funny thing to say how you assume CS1.6 or CSS are dead when you have never played them.
Both of those games won't go F2P, ever. The reason is pretty much self-explanatory, those games don't have microtransactions.
If you are not willing to pay to play them, then just ignore them. But believe me, they worth every cent, definitely your loss.

Ezy answer my friend - because they have no SKINS which Valve knows generate the most money they need - ofc even from cheaters making endless free accounts and buying the most minor skins for 0.03(thats why 0.02 cent goes as a fee to fill Gejbens stomache)

Because they want people to get GO, if they make 1.6 or Source free people would get that. They want you to get GO; that’s why they priced it cheaper than 1.6 and source. Like the guy above me, CS is a big money generator.

The answer is simple : microtransactions (which are missing from 1.6 or Source).
They won't get any profit from making them free.

Exactly - even the most minor skins for 0.03 cent as a minitransactions multipled by millions daily gives few millions each month....(0.02 cent fee for Valve)

CS Nexon still up on Steam, as for CS Online 1 & 2, they were shut down long ago.
