More fps and more ez to hit
The lower resolution better
That's not the case depending on the setup. If pro's could switch to a higher resolutions today they would. Except after playing 20 years on the same resolution it's hard. Higher has more benefits these days. From POV, GPU usage and thus latency.
The 4:3 comes a different time that the level designed was more boxed. The systems not pushing higher FPS, let alone the tournament systems of that time. And CRT heavily dominated the scene. And players looked at beter players and use their settings back then.
If you want me to drop some resolution to choose from:
.................................................................................................................................
Stretched:
1280 x 960 Stretched - (players like s1mple does play with this one)
1440 x 1080 Stretched - (custom HD resolution, great image quality, but need a decent computer to run it smoothly.
.....................................................................................................................................
Blackbars/Normal
1024 x 768 Blackbars ( MAX FPS but looks sh*tty )
1280 x 960 Blackbars (decent graphic, decent fps)
1920 x 1080 HD (great looking, all details may be abit distracting, depending on your compute - could suffer some fps loss.
................................................................................................................................
My personal favorite: 16:10 - 1680 x 1080 Stretched (custom resolution) it's a cool mix between stretched and HD (not as stretchy as 1440, but still stretchy enough to get that "zoomed in" feeling.
The more fps better, that legend that says uhhhh you only 60 fps if you have 60hz is bs

"I lowered my resolution and i got around 400 fps ,and i Saw my movement smoother"

Lower resolution is to have more fps and that myth that 800*600 looks bad is false,i played with that and looks good ,same with 960*540
I bet most of you havent even tried to play this Game with low resolutions and you say its bad
