Renting Skins?
Do you or do you not do it? I keep getting advertised a site for it on Facebook and I don't understand it's popularity, can someone who actually does that service explain more on how it works? Feels like a scam to me. :headcrab:

IDK if any of you can read but if you dont get your item back after the allotted time, the site gives you 100% market price of the skin. The person stealing the skin has to put a credit card on their account in order to rent, and as such gets charged 110% of the price if they dont return, that is how the site works.

That's the website I keep getting advertised,I been trying to learn more about it and how it works. Like what happens if your rented skin ends up getting sold by the renter?

I wont call the site "a scam" but the whole concept sounds fishy. Like, what stops some1 from just stealing skins?
Steam couldnt do ♥♥♥♥ since the one who rented out the skins did it willingly. At the same time lootbear is a 3rd party site that sells skins, so it's not like they have some grounds to punish or pursue the steam user who yanked those skins.

They take it to court / charge their bank account

Skin renting? How on earth does that work? Seriously I would not use any site advertising the idea....That is a huge security risk to your account and personal data, especially if it is a new site.

I really recxommend you take a look at this thread...

The short answer is just don't do it. The concept itself is phishy as hell mate. It is not worth handing over your identity to places like that just to rent a skin for a game.

If your talking about that site, then I would say that site is still a bit buggy. I would only use that if you have multiple expensive knives. As for me I have $500+ worth of knives on that site and be making a whopping $10 a week. What the site does is let people rent out their skins and for other people to rent their skins. The site takes 40% of the money it cost to rent the skin and the rest goes to the people renting out their own skins. The rent prices are calculated based on the market price of the skin.

The site requires a credit card information and id in order to rent so if you attempt to do fraudulent activity, then they can take legal actions against you. I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to this situation cause me personally I wouldn't even bother to rent a skin from them only buy. If the skin goes missing and never get return, then your issues a full refund of the skin if your the person that's renting out their skin.

So to clear things up I will give out an example. Person A is the person who wants to rent a skin from the site. Person B is the person with the skin that wants to make money for putting their skin on the site for people to rent. Person A rents person B skin and pays the rent money while person B recieves 60% of the rent money from person A and the rest of that goes to the site.

Question is, what if the person renting out their skin doesn't get their item back? Also, what is to stop that site from stealing one's identity..especially if they are renting from them?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I know there's two people in this thread to have answered that question already,it seems a bit trustworthy, but at the same time i'm still cautious of it.
