What is LAN?

Guys kind of curious about this word because it's been a while since people are saying this LAN word. Is it like a place?

LAN is short for local area network

I know that but I don't think they meant that because its a network connection type. The peeps will be like " Join an local LAN event" I mean do you join a network connection and get matched with those players?

It's a place where you hook up computers to each other and play multiplayer games together, imagine 5v5 csgo but everyone is in the same room sitting next to each other, that's how people handled multiplayer before worldwide accesible internet was a thing

So its like a small tournament with a small crowd watching you? Or its just a room with 10 peoples there and play together?

It just means that its offline and everyone is in the same house/arena

hey kennyS, can you please play with me tomorrow? I don't really have any friends and people keep saying i am a noob and nobody wants to play with me... I also get kicked out alot.. Can you please play with me? Or at least tell me some tips to get better? I would appreciate that so much

LAN match means that you are playing in just like Katowice 2018. You all are there, sitting in chairs in front of each other

LAN = local area network, nearby computers connected by a cable. One computer to create a game and the other joins. Both will have low 1-5 ping. To connect the computers together, you'd need a switch or hub. Those systems are call Ethernet devices. You can call the cable a LAN cable, also an Ethernet cable.

WAN = Wide area network, computers far apart connected together. The internet is the largest WAN. Companies host their game servers and there could be high ping when we connect to their distant computer.

VPN = Virtual Private Network. For Private companies to host private servers and games. With VPN software installed and configured for the machines, their computers can connect to the private severs over internet.

A whole bunch of computers all connected together to play with each other. No need for wifi if youre playing lan with people
