I spent 12 months trying to find the problem with mine, changing settings, having the entire house rerouted with new cables yet the issue persisted. As what other people said, it seems like a dead or dying modem.
yeah. part of "troubleshooting" is swapping out hardware not just dinking around on software settings like OP is doing.
id swap a different manufacture(a common popular one) router in first, see if that clears up the issue, then if not pull the cable modem. the ISP will send a new one if you just call them and complain(lol)
this really sounds like a dying hardware eg router/modem/cabling issue to me. but like everyone here we are stabbing in the dark since the machine/lan is not physically ours to kick.
After my experience, i dont even trust ISP modems now. Had mine replaced 4 times in 12 months and all had the same issue. So it does pay to spend that little bit extra and get a far superior modem that actually works. Just my 2 cents.
But yes, please do try swapping out the modem, even if it is older, anything that will help determine hardware related issues. If the issue persists, even with another modem, then you can rule out hardware. At that stage i would look into changing what port your modem is connected to as it could be a cable or port issue. If still no fix, then you can pretty much guarantee an issue on the ISP end, whether it being a line issue between the exchange and your property, or a faulty something else on ISP end.
Im not sure why OP is blaming the game, csgo is highly optimized now since its been installed on millions of computers in dozens of countries for years now. he's prob just frustrated but thats understandable. he really needs to do proper troubleshooting and swap in other networking hardware to end the problem he's having.
Already done, and I don't see how it could be my ISP, because there would be no way to actually confirm if they're the ones causing it and no way they could fix it.
Not getting hostile, I've just taken every suggestion and heard it all.
Already set my tick rate also play FaceIT servers because MM is just trash now. Too many toxic players and being kick for no reason. Which is why there a lot of threads as well on here with people being kick randomly without ANY reason.
Are you getting loss on MM only? Or does it happen on Community / FACEIT servers aswell? Does it happen if you play with a friend who lives further away? If it only happens on Matchmaking games (competitive, casual, dm, etc), then it might be a bad connection to a certain Valve sdr (data relay) cluster.
I used to get 15-20% loss the entire time in some competitive matches but not others, and it stopped once I switched to a different cluster using these console commands:
net_client_steamdatagram_enable_override "1"
sdr SDRClient_ForceRelayCluster "abc"
Look up data centers here - https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/6huin1/data_centers_routing_clusters_list/
and replace "abc" in the command above with the 3-letter code for a nearby cluster. In your console, it should tell you which sdr you're connecting to aswell as your latency to every relay cluster. You can change to any of them mid-game without interruption so try out as many as you want.
Your profile says you're in Ontario, Canada so you're likely using "ord" (Chicago). Try switching between that and "iad" (Washington DC) to see if the loss goes away. There's others in NA but they're all west coast/southern US so your ping will go up when using those.
If none of that works, try net_client_steamdatagram_enable_override "-1" to force a direct connection to the server, if that still works (some reddit threads say it doesn't, but the console still gives info about it, so who knows). The relay clusters prevent disconnects by routing you to another cluster incase your connection to one is broken for some reason, so be aware of that.
If you're still stuck, maybe try TCP Optimizer or trial some gaming routing service like WTFast, but I'm out of ideas at this point.
Hope this wall of text helps, GL!
I'm not the only one! Seems like Blind knows what he's doing.
I've explained I'm using a gigabit connection with a Cat6e ethernet cable. Connection is solid. Rate doesn't change anything as I play FaceIT with packet loss.
Blind... It seems like you know what you're doing. I'll be sure to try that right now. Thank you for the input! I'll get back to you...
I think it's random. My lag occured where there's new update of CSGO. Not always, but it's the main problem my ping became laggy.
you solve this problem bro ?
I can't say that I have. It happens randomly. I can go DAYS without it ever happening but then one day it'll be non-stop. I have given up hope and abandoned CS:GO.
Yupp...can confirm this. One day is so smooth, and other day it's laggy as fook. Totally random.
