We don't know for sure but the Steam TOS mention they can revoke/ban your account if they see you are using VPNs or trying to spoof your location.

It's been advised to not use a VPN because that's going to be pretty obvious.

yes

Using a VPN alone won't make it. You need to update your store front and billing address for a French one. That means you also need a payment method registered in France to buy the skin.

Valve can ban your account (ie. fully disable) if you use a VPN to hide your identity.

VPN in itself is not really the problem, but hiding real identity (aka trying to be anonymous, untrackable) can loose your account.

A VPN by itself won't help you to get the X-ray p250, they have other verifications in place to stop you from faking your country. It also goes for countries that are not allowed to open boxes. Just a VPN is not enough.

VPN won’t work in this case. Csgo region is base on account region settings. If your country is using Euro currency, you can change to France and experience the new system.

Steam terms of service: https://store.steampowered.com/subscriber_agreement/

You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, Valve may terminate your access to your Account.

Just because they posted a video of them doing the thing and not getting in trouble doesn't mean they aren't going to get in trouble.

I don't know. I don't watch videos that go about case openings, bypassing the system, and so on. There is also a big possibility that those videos are not telling the whole stories, made solely for monetization on youtube and getting subscribers. You should ask them.

It doesn't change the fact that circumventing this can loose your account. It's stated in the terms of services. It's unknown (to me) how active Steam / Valve is enforcing this.

It's your own risk, when you don't comply with the TOS.

Risking account locks on alt accounts is easy for them.

Dude, this p250 is useless. Literally it has no purpose. Valve wanted to keep gambling in their game so they made this crap.
I cant believe they can get away like this. Hope French courts react to it somehow but I think it's a dead dream.

Csgojackpot wont close anytime soon it seems.

It appeases law makers in the country that said no to gambling by opening cases.

And it tries to give the players something for the loss of case openings.

But its still the case here. You open cases and the item is already pre determined when you drop the case.
Csgo is a casino like those third party sites back then ... valve wanted the monopoly on it.
I mean, fair enough. But dont be hypocrite Gabe...

I rather think about valve like the talented persons who made the best game ever made, HL .. now they are too lazy to make games so they created a casino..
Seriously... sorry for the rant.

This is actually a very sneaky system, that moves the problem forward.

You get an X-ray on what you are going to win. But if you are not taking the win, you can never use it again.

It's like going to a gambling machine, you throw in a free Euro, that Euro reveals if you are going win something. If you think it's not enough, and don't take the win, you get the Euro back. BUT you can never ever play that slotmachine again.

It does not stop gambling, it just moves the problem. If you want to try again. You have to accept the win first. To get a peek at the next win.

This is dirty imho. It probably complies with the law, but it makes use of a loophole that stil makes it gambling.

It will still draw players that want to win to the gambling machine. People gambling (it is an addiction), will not stop gambling because of this. They just invented another lure to draw people in.

EX-ACT-LY.
I wish Valve was so creative when it comes to fight cheats... but hey, there is no money to make there buddy.
What a shame. I used to love Valve but damn, this move was a punch in my face. They are no better than Phantomlord actually.
