Use market and trade for what it was meant for, skins to be enjoyed in game.
Dude was alive eighteen minutes ago. Now he's laying dead on the floor and they were even against illegal skin trading
I'm pretty sure that this will have impact on the steam market. And prices will collapse.
No more stupid pixel business, less scams as they can't monetise.
Why would I want a money in one specific thing when I can get money I could spend anywhere I want?
While I agree these sites really give a platform to scammers, it is sad to see. It is sad to see another site, that is known for being relatively trust worthy (provided you know what you're doing), is shutting down.
I was honestly about to sell my own inventory there and get a new PC/PC parts. Now I guess I gotta play the wait game and see which site pops up in its absence. 'Cuz I'd rather not get $1500 in Steam wallet.
Oh, it's you again... always disagreeing with me (i was previously called Solitude, but changed my name and profile to something cake themed (because i felt an overwhelming desire for cake recently). But anyway... skins were intended to be enjoyed. i've never cashed out. And i never will, every cent i've added into my steam wallet was purely for the love of collecting skins.
If you can't cash out. Good. Spend it on the Steam Market or buy Steam games. Don't you love skins too? Don't you love games? You're going to spend the money here anyway, so what's the problem?
I get that they were intended to be enjoyed, but the reality is people have spent insane amounts of money on these skins because Valve is the one who sets their rates. That along with a community market creates insane prices and some people would like to know they can get some money back that isn't locked to just Steam.
I'd personally like to get a better PC over Steam games 'cuz there's not a lot of things on Steam that I can get that equals out to $1500 worth of skins. Not to mention some games I do want aren't even on Steam's platform.
Thats why steam was though to be in trouble infront of the court, yet there were able to deny the charges and explaining that you don't hold any reallife currency / value with skins in your steam inventory.
To proof that steam was asked to actively shut down something which was already "illegal" considering steam ToS. So steam went down on the biggest providers of the market and several others.
Some years passed steam couldn't care less for some niche guys offering the same while following steam rules (trade restriction etc.) -> skinbaron best example
Now there was a case of fraudent action.
Steam couldn't bother less they have everything protected (INSIDE STEAM!) so if something fraudents happen they do a roleback (remove game, revoke trade and delete fraudent item afterwards, remove currency (steamwallet) received by frauds etc.)
Now steam still knows that they could prevent a certain amount of dmg from frauds to them however if you go to a 3rd website and buy a skin for a 3 digit or 4 digit number and then it gets deleted afterwards you would probally be mad at steam and not at the 3rd party seller, since steam was the one deleting it.
Steam requested proper actions to prepare against frauds which is near to impossible unless you have long waiting times for the customers regardless of buying or selling.
That's why some websites are still up but rather unfamiliar.
The mentioned site made the decission to rather cashout now instead of building a system preventing fraud, since that system wouldn't be 100% accurate and if steam shuts down completly they are still hold responsible law wise for the skins / values THEY give them as reallife money.
My guess is that they worked out the 14 day arrangement with the legal department of steam.
They have 14 days time to change their system to detect fraud or shut the service down of selling items.
TLDR:
Don't see stuff with a reallife money value just because some people say so.
Same is with some trading stuff most is a scam where only a handfull people claim its value and the sheeps follow paying the prices - easy to see by bot accs buying out skins which are considered "trash" just to resell them after 1 year while artificatily thining out the market making sure it looks rare.
Just my 2 cent.
You don't remember me, that's fine, basically, you've disagreed with me on several threads about various topics. I remember you because your posts were a lot longer and more thorough than everyone else's.
Anyway, i understand that people would like the option to cash out. Of course they would. But is that in Valve's best interests? Look at it from their point of view, and think of the legal ramifications if they were to allow it... it's a dangerous line... at the end of the day, i'd rather that Valve be safe, secure and legal, than have the option to cash out.
