Low fps with gtx 1080 & i7 6700k (150fps)
Since I bought this pc, I've had fps problems. I don't know why, but with a GTX 1080 and i7 6700k, I can only get ~150 fps on 1920x1080

When I check MSI afterburner while in game, I see my CPU at around 50% usage and GPU at 40%. The consistent thing I've noticed is that more players/bots=less fps and less GPU usage, while maintaining the same CPU usage:
With no players, I've got 250fps and 50% GPU usage, with 10 I've got 150fps 40% GPU usage. I'm pretty sure it's a CPU problem, but if you have any other suggestions, write them anyways.
Also, my in-game settings make no difference at all.

I've tried:
  • Disabling hyperthreading.
  • unparking CPU cores.
  • A couple different GPU drivers.
  • Numerous launch options.
  • Almost every combination of NVIDIA settings.
  • And probably even more that I can't remember at the time of writing.

To everyone saying "DUHH teh eye can't see more than xx fps ANYWAY", ♥♥♥♥ you.
And to the ones saying "Everything above 60fps, doesn't matter because of your screen refresh rate", first off, I have a 144hz screen and secondly, my framerate frequently drops below 144, so even if you think that (which I don't), I STILL have a problem.
(sorry if I'm rude, but I'm tired of misinformed people assuming things)

All suggestions (except the two previous) are appreciated.

Could be multiple problems ... Since your PC runs at 50% u might have useless programs in background that slows your PC , some viruses etc

Summed up, your rig is so powerful that csgo appears laggy because you have so much frames on your monitor that you need a monitor capable of handling such power.

Probably not, since I bought it as new from the most trustworthy shop in my country :P

It's not csgo that only uses 50% IT'S THE WHOLE PC. this means there is 50% FREE to use.

Also to both answers, CSGO is the only game I have this problem in. I have more fps in PUBG that CSGO :/

Is this the only game you have low fps on?

could you tell us more about your system? Memory,Motherboard,PSU

I had a problem with a stupid program called Nahimic 2+ my fps was 300+ but it
stuttered like it was 30fps.

Did you read the question?

I already have a 144hz screen.

Also, I'm not basing this off of it felling "laggy" (although it does), I'm basing it off an fps counter.

The second part of your answer doesn't make sense though :/

Mostly max, but only because I've tried numerous combinations of settings, and it doesn't change anything
(which you might had know if you read the whole question)

This is the only game with low fps, yes

I have a
  • ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 OC
  • i7 6700k (overclocked to 4.5GHz)
  • Corsair RM750x PSU
  • 16GB DDR4 ram
  • MSI m9-ack MOBO (DON'T JUDGE ME OKAY, I know it's overkill)

But can you tell me more about your nahimic problem? I use that too, since it came with my PC

EDIT: I also have a 1TB samsung 850evo SSD

Do you have two hardrives?
I started getting the problem after I plugged in my second hard drive.
Sorry but I don't know how to fix it either just wondering.

NOTHING IS USING THE POWER
also, I've had this problem since the PC came inside my house. At that point I for sure didn't have a virus.
I will admit I HAVE a lot of backround programs. But when MSI afterburner is reading 50% CPU/GPU usage, then the power is simply not being used. Not eaten up by a virus

I would like to hit 400fps too :/ I just can't find out why I don't

MSI AEGIS TI3
7700K
32gb DDR4 2400
GTX 980
The software was here.
https://www.msi.com/Desktop/support/Aegis-Ti3#down-driver&Win10%2064

I installed this thinking it would just be a front end for the onboard sound.
But hl2dm stuttered and CS:GO while it did not stutter once removed my fps whent from 300fps to over 600fps.

I have not installed it since and everything has been fine.
