I can't hear footsteps very well but gunshots are too loud when I turn the volume up...
So sometimes I am in a 1v1 clutch for example and I lose because I don't know where the enemy is because I couldn't hear his footsteps and my team usually say something along the lines of "you heard him", "buy a headset" or simply "uninstall" which is basically another way of saying everyone else heard him (except me). :steamsad:

My game sound is so loud that AWP shots occasionally hurt my ears but apparently I still can't hear these magical footsteps that embarrass me when I lose a clutch.

My headset is a Logitech G430, which I have seen some pros use such as Stewie for example so I don't think it is the make of headset.

If anyone could answer some of these questions or help me in any way, I would be very appreciative:

- Could I change my audio settings?
- Are my drivers not working correctly?
- Is my headset not working correctly?
- Do I need a new headset?

Thanks <3

Also try if you can hear steps by increasing the volume to 1 (I just lower cs:go's volume from windows... because low volume value used to mess with footsteps?)

Use stereo (with 3d option enabled) option and disable the "7.1" headset features

My audio setting now look like this:
Audio Device - Speakers (Logitect G430 Gaming Headset)
Audio Output Configuration - Stereo Headphones
Advanced 3D Audio Processing - Enabled

Should I change the Output Configuration to Stereo Speakers?

And thank you for helping <3

doesn't help. sound effects from csgo is just straight trash. i remember from 20 years ago quake 2 and 3 were even better than this.
Same problem, is there any tweak for this which will boost or simply change volume files to make them louder?

I dont listen high frequencies so i need to switch scoping and bomb defusing to a lower frequency and also boost steps + their way

Very helpful - your memory can not be trusted many papers on this topic.

You can mess with the equalizer but there is no slider for footsteps/guns/bomb/sfx.
An EQ (any sound equalizer) will do the job.
Just set the bass to max and you'll be fine.

Update: i dont know what i did, this was ages ago but i think i just turned my headset volume down and turned the csgo volume up and it seemed to make the steps louder. i also got a new headset but the old one should have worked just fine? idk

Thank you for the update. Appreciate it. So after one year, you hear steps comfortably now? Did you make any changes? I'm having the same problem you had 5 years ago and now it's driving me nuts to be the "deaf" one in the team..
