Should I open cases to get a knife?
I've bought and sold my skins over and over and now I don't care about them anymore. So I was wondering if it was worth opening cases for me to finally get a knife.
Btw I live in Brazil so it's kind of complicated to get a knife buying it in the steam market and because of that I was wondering if it's worth it or not. I would open 15 cases.

100% do NOT open ANY cases if you want a knife

The odds are such that you will need to open hundreds of cases in order to have a slight chance of getting a knife. This will cost much more than the few hundred bucks you see for the cost of the knives.

There is a reason these knives cost so much - they are exceedingly rare and cost a LOT MORE money to open.

I got a knife after 15 cases. Can't say that's good odds though as i've only ever unboxed 2.

Opening cases is gambling. You could open a knife on the 1st try but statistically making your money back or profiting off of cases is VERY rare. The people you see on youtube unboxing knives open hundreds of cases per knife they unbox. I would recommend taking a small portion out of your paycheck and slowly saving for a knife. That's what I did and I have a knife I am happy with.

damn no one really likes it, but anyway, I was going to raise money and buy a knife at the steam market, the problem is that the knives that I could buy are navajas or gut knives (and I don’t actually like them ;-;)

That’s why I was thinking about opening cases and see if I’m lucky enough to get a knife

Chance of getting a skin from each rarity:
Mil-spec: 79.92%
Restricted: 15.98%
Classified: 3.2%
Covert: 0.64%
Knife/Glove: 0.26%

Chance to get one from each rarity after 250 cases:
Formular: 1 - ( ( 1 - x ) ^ y )
-> x = Chance and Y = Number of tries

Mil-spec: 100%
Restricted: 99,999999999999999988%
Classified: 99,97%
Covert: 79.9%
Knife/Glove: 47,8%

As you can see yourself it's likely to get a covert skin after 250 cases, but still unlikely to get a knife/glove.

Either way. Opening cases isn't worth it.

Cheap knife - $50
Chance of getting knife from Bitskins by buying with cash: 100%

Opening case - $2.52 (includes case and key)
Chance of getting knife from case when opening a case: 0.26% or 1/400

In other words, if you buy from bitskins, you only have to spend the equivalent of 20 keys to get a cheap knife.

Not worth it in terms of risk/reward. If you really want a knife, just save some money and buy the one you want.
