*144HZ SCREEN TEARING PLEASE HELP*
Hello everyone,
I have been playing csgo for a few years now and recently bought a 144hz monitor from my friend looking to get decent at the game but I have a huge issue. No matter what settings I use even though im always getting good fps im still screen tearing. Its a hugeee issue and makes half the maps in the game unplayable. I currently have the ASUS VG248QE 3D monitor and something just isnt right. Ive tried all resolutions, fps tweaks, even adjusted the "trace free" monitor setting to 100 which is supposed to get rid of ghosting with no success.
My specs: Windows 8.1 65 bit
Intel core i3-4150 CPU @3.5 GHz, 6 GB Ram, NVIDIA GTX 745

Im supreme right now and want to start playing esea and im attending a local lan soon. PLEASE HELP ME FIX!

make sure you have the monitor set at 144htz and in nvidia....manage 3d settings preferred refresh rate set to highest avalible.
other than that are you using the right cable?
I have it set to max refresh rate in my nvidia settings. -freq 144 in launch options. My dad setup the monitor for me because the first time that I plugged it in i couldnt get it passed 144hz at all. I'll update you guys after watching the video. Thank you for answering!
This whole video makes no sense to me because I am completely clueless when it comes to computers. Ill have to ask for some help with trying the right cable
I got this from my friend and i have one cord plugged into the outlet and the other is plugged in from the back left side of the monitor into my pc.. i dont know what I could have changed-
my brother and i just spent like an hour doing google searches and messing with settings with no success. I have already done every fps tweak in the book from my computer to in-game configs. Still no fix. Im texting my friend who says that he didnt give me the cable with a hdmi plug on one end and a vga on the other. Hopefully him and i can sort this out. Thanks for all the responses.

What cable are you using?

Maybe your friend sold you the monitor for a reason
DVI-D (dual link)
Thats not why haha. He's a close friend of mine who recently quit gaming and he gave me a steal on it.

hdmi only works at 60htz if you are getting 144htz on the monitor using the dual link it will tell you on the monitor.
on the monitor press the menu button use the button next to it to get to information this will tell you if the monitor is running at 144htz also there is a reset button if your friend has messed with settings this might help.
thanks for all the replies but im pretty sure its mostly my pc. i seem to only have this issue in csgo or other games that dont run well on my potato computer haha
