"Your best ping to official servers is 40ms"
I've played CS:GO since 2014 and have always had a ping around 19-24, excluding the rare spikes, until about a month ago in which the game itself posts a message saying "Your best ping to official servers is 40ms" and it lives up to that message by only putting me into servers with 40ms at the lowest.

The problem I have is that my internet is very weird and when my ping reaches 40ms or higher, it makes the gameplay equivalent to 100+ ping, but with no rubber banding. I have never had this problem before and since I can't play on any server lower than 40ms, I can't really play the game normally.

Side information for my internet stats below:

Speedtest.net: Ping: 11ms
Download: 30.21Mbps
Upload: 5.98Mbps

ISP Speedtest: Ping: 13ms
Download: 29.37Mbps
Upload: 5.99Mbps

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I've had this same issue, maybe it's valve messing with the servers?
Maybe, I hope that it isn't going to stay like this much longer. Through random googling and such I found this site: http://deepfocus.io/csgo_ping.php that apparently tests your ping to the closest server in CS:GO and it is showing the exact ping I've always had, but with random spikes every 15-20 seconds that jumps anywhere from 43ms up to 66ms. I wonder if it spiking to those numbers correlates with the game not allowing me to join anything under 40ms. Very weird.

Did you get this resolved? I normally get 5 ping and sometimes even 1, 2, 3, 4. I have over 500 download and upload internet with 4 ping ms. I have very expensive internet and have never had an issue with cs-go. I have the same exact message and yes, it sure does live up to that message.

with me it says that my ping is always higher then 40, but ingame its always around 20, so it could be a false message..

Not a false message with me. It gives me 40 or higher and at the best 30 but i'm used to 5 ping. I would like to get this back to how i had it

how the hell do you contact support?
The only fix I have for this problem is to have your ISP exchange your router for a new model and to have them check your wiring.

Excluding a plethora of attempts at fixing it I eventually coincidentally got a call from my ISP saying my router is malfunctioning so they came and exchanged my router and replaced a cable for me and after that all my problems went away.

It was either a big coincidence that it fixed after that or that was the problem, but either way I do not have the problem any longer and I am able to play the game flawlessly again.
As funny as it is, after posting that comment yesterday I just now reencountered the problem as I loaded up for an MM game. I also now have connected that I jokingly loaded an older CFG right before I went to queue today that I used to use in mid 2014 and after loading that CFG I started to have the problem. I do not know what in the CFG causes it, but I believe that something in it has caused this. My recommendation to anyone is to revert some CFG changes you may have added as this could solve your problem

May be your max ping settings or some command that no longer exists
neither of those can be factors after looking into both my old CFG and current one they match up equally except for smal things such as viewmodel, crosshair, etc. Max ping couldn't be a problem either as no matter what it is set to it displays the message. I have been playing the game even though it's pretty awful to play, but I haven't gotten the message after the 3rd game and I am no longer in a high ping value so it may have fixed on its own for some reason. I messaged valve support about it recently so if the problem continues hopefully they will help and I can post a fix for anyone having to deal with it.
You do realize that the ms value you get from a speedtest is just your connection to the speedtest servers, right?
yes I'm quite aware which is why I posted the website that tests your ping specifically for cs go servers and concidering it's identical to the ping I am getting in game I would say it's an accurate test. Please read more before trying to make a statement that is answered on it's own.

I was simply asking a question. Yes or no would have sufficed.

I'm aware. I gave further information so you understand. If you're having the problem then I don't have an answer at this point for its fix for two reasons: It seems to have fixed on it's own for me so I am not sure why it fixed and the second is because I am going to wait for the support to reply and I will either have the problem again and they will fix it or I'll be unlucky and won't have a fix to help others.
bro did you fix this cause i have the same problem except not 40ms 90ms what did you do?
