The Federal Communications Commission is expected to vote on whether to overturn its own net neutrality rules next month.
Wa? Why?
Isn't not paying for internet features good for the US consumers?
That's how the internet is now, Net Neutrality is in place. They want to repeal it. If they do then cable companies will charge us more money to do certain things online.
For example, I currently pay $80 for my internet, 100mbps down. I can do whatever I want online whether it be streaming video, checking my email, playing games, downloading stuff etc. Worst case scenario would be that my $80 only gets me Email and a couple of basic sites. If I wanted to watch Youtube it would cost me an extra $10-20 a month, if I wanted to watch Netflix as well that;s another $20 per month, if I want to do online gaming that's another $40 extra per month. Now I could be looking at closer to $200 a month for everything I used to do instead of $80 as it's been for years.
