CS: GO config file???
I am new to CS: GO. I have seen many peoples recommending to use your own custom config file for ease of use. Like custom bindings for purchasing armor and helmets nades and some minor fps boost etc. And I also liked this concept and thinking to do so. By using custom config file I am changing games settings. And the steam cloud sync is enabled. What my question is if I don't like the cfg file and wanted to delete the cfg file then will it reverts back the settings which were changed by the cfg file only or will it reset to default or its sync to steam cloud and cant be reverted back? :2lamp:

Deleting it will revert it back to its default config file because CSGO creates a new config file when the game is launched and detects that it's missing.

Also you should be aware the CSGO does not use the config file in Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg anymore.

The game uses the config file found in \Steam\userdata\422306137\730\local\cfg

You forget that 422306137 is your user ID, not theirs. ;)

The config files have a new location

As of December 2015, configuration files are stored in the user directory so that different users on the same computer can each have their own configuration.

The new location is: ..\Steam\userdata\<userid>\730\local\cfg\config.cfg

You can safely delete the file in your game's ..\csgo\cfg folder, it is redundant.

I already took account of his steam ID 3 number when writing the folder link.

Guys you are giving 2 different answers. I think I must try it myself to see what works for me. :slugheart:

I just wanted to know that if I place a cfg file and it started working. And if I delete that cfg file will the ingame settings revert back to default or to the point before I started using cfg?

The CFG in the userdata folder is only used if you have played the game on more than one account on the same PC I think,

Thanks for the reply. But this thread is more than a year now. And now I know almost everything about configs. Anyway thanks for replying ;)

Deleting it will revert back to the default. For anyone looking to test out different configs and see what works for you, I found this site with the most of the CS pro's settings [progearandsettings.com]
