Config Resetting Itself.
Anyone else having trouble with the config file resetting itself every time you start CS?
This was not a problem before the latest patch introducing the Tec-9 changes, but now it is. Every time I start CS, it runs my config file, which in turn, runs my auto exec file, but then, some of the auto exec changes are there, some aren't, and my normal config file resets itself, so that the last command in the config file (exec autoexec.cfg) has disappeared. The only solution to this problem that I've seen so far is to make the normal config file Read-only. Please help.

Which config file you are talking about? The one located in Steam\userdata\somenumbers\730\local\cfg\ ? This file gets rewritten each time you start cs:go.

You can start the autoexec.cfg via start options.
Rightclick CS:GO in your Steam Library, click the Button start options, add
+exec autoexec.cfg

As in , right click/ properties/ launch options?

autoexec or any other custom config file goes to:
Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg\

this is your account's current cs:go config which gets refreshed all the time:
Steam\userdata\somenumbers\730\local\cfg\

and then there is Steam cloud, which loads an older version of your account's config, if the current config is missing or invalid.

and yes, I was talking about the one in 730. It keeps resetting itself, which never was a problem/ happened with me, and now it is. So now I'm trying to figure out how to get autoexec.cfg to run on its own.

Please go over how to set up the autoexec file in launch options.

Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg\

The new location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<YOURID>\730\local\cfg where <YOURID> is your ID. Delete/move any config.cfg and autoexec.cfg from the old location to the new location.

Remove exec autoexec from config.cfg if you have it there. Add +exec autoexec to Launch Options for CSGO.

Your autoexec.cfg should have host_writeconfig in it.

I know where config.cfg is and where autoexec.cfg are located. Should I move autoexec.cfg to the 730 folder with config.cfg or does it even matter where autoexec.cfg is at all? Also, thank you for telling me how to add autoexec to the launch options. My autoexec.cfg already has host_writeconfig in it.

Only thing i see in google is a 2015 post about that the account's configs are moved to userdata/../730/local/cfg/. Yup, that was 2 years ago.

Your custom files still go to steamapps/common/C..-S..G..O.../csgo/cfg/

The autoexec file can be either place, it really doesn't matter.

config.cfg always goes to the 730 file, autoexec.cfg can be in cfg or 730 it doesn't matter.

True, but the idea is to have custom options per Steam account.

Okay, so I put +exec autoexec.cfg in the launch options, launched the game. And now the autoexec runs before the normal config file, so I get default config settings....

I'm still confused as to why the autoexec runs before the default config file.... it seems some of my settings stay from the autoexec file, and some don't. Like my viewmodel, it doesn't stay, but all of my binds do.

It sounds like you autoexec is running at all. Maybe there is an error with it?

It's running. I have echo commands in the file that tell me if it ran correctly, and it did, but a few of my commands dont show up until I run it in the console again....

View model is special. I need to look up the command.

The thing is, if I run exec autoexec in the console manually, all of my viewmodel stuff gets updated.

viewmodel_presetpos 4

I'll try that in a minute. I think this has to do with crashz crosshair config files running after the autoexec file.
