Can I be overwatch banned for having to go AFK near the end of a comp match?

Our team was losing 5-12 but then something last minute came up and I had to leave the game. There was no chance of winning so I tried telling my team I had to go AFK but they wouldn't vote to kick me. It was that or face a 7 day ban. I tried multiple times but my teammates wouldn't do it. We had 0 chance of winning so I thought what is there to lose, I typed +right in console and went AFK because I couldn't avoid this last minute situation. I came back and one of my teammates reported me for being AFK.
I technically wasn't griefing because I had no choice, I had to go AFK. I understand it could be considered throwing but we literally had no chance of winning that game.
Could I be Overwatch banned for griefing because of this?

I got banned 2 times for abandoning when I got put with toxic players and one for my internet going out, that takes me to 7 days as my next cooldown

not sure what you are trying to tell me but I am telling you normal people do not play above the 2 hour cooldown level.

Your right there, I should have waited for my cooldown level to go back to 30 mins, which was my fault.

I know how the cooldown system works. you start at level 1 and you go up a level everytime you get a cooldown. 1 = 30 mins, 2 = 2 hours, 3 = 24 hours 4 and up = 7 days. Every week you go without a ban your offense level goes down one. I'm not saying I dont know how the system works

no you do not know how it works.
you thought you could avoid a cooldown by getting kicked.

However, at level 3 and up, simply being vote kicked once or vote kicking once will get you a cooldown of 7 days. This is as strict as the system gets.

I thought that had to do with how many games you get kicked from in a certain amount of time. also isn't it possible to get kicked and get a 30 minute ban at level 1, My friend got kicked once and he got banned for 30 minutes

cooldowns stack and get more strict.

alright, I will keep this in mind for next time something comes up last minute in a comp game and I know I will have to miss more than a round. Being kicked wouldn't of changed anything in that situation. Sorry about that

But I don't think I will get over watch banned this time since this is the first time I was reported for "griefing", But next time I know that I can get reported for being AFK

if you where moving around to avoid the automated afk kick you may get a giefing cooldown.
