Hdmi to dvi cable for gaming
I am getting a new pc soon and the monitor i will use doesnt have hdmi as my pc does. Is it possible to use a dvi to hdmi cord to plug into my monitor in a dvi port instead?

the PC probably has a displayport connection aswell as HDMI.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort

it's far better than HDMI or DVI and the standard for modern gaming.

using any kind of adapter will probably add a decent ammount of input lag, which is seriously annoying.

will this do?
so, you only have VGA and DVI (the blue and white) on your monitor? In that case you have no choice but to use an adapter. the one you linked should be fine. you should consider investing in a monitor that has displayport though.

A display port in a monitor what do u mean by that? i will get a monitor in the future with a hdmi port but for the time i will have to just use a hdmi to dvi cable instead

I already linked you in this very thread. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort

This is the standard today, HDMI is for TV's and consoles and not much more. Either use DVI or Displayport.

Im pretty sure there is no GPU that has ONLY HDMI so you either have the option to DVI or DP. HDMI should be avoided unless you are connecting the PC to a television.

hdmi to dvi cable is what ill have to use even if it causes input lag. I have a spare vga cable but thats just trash so i think a display port with dvi would be a waste

if you have a choice between VGA and HDMI, you should use VGA. but your GPU won't have a VGA output, they stopped putting those in cards like 10 years ago.

Displayport > DVI > HDMI, basically. but if you haven't got a choice then you use an adapter for HDMI.

tbh i dont want to spend to much on a apadter so i might as well just get hdmi to dvi and will get better monitor in the future and maybe get a displayport with dvi before that
