1.) If the servers are hosted in jhb, and routing from cpt -> jhb goes via london, then why are jhb'ers not playing on the server, which according to steam status page is idle!?
2.) Why would mweb route, without notification traffic to jhb via london, which would pressumable affect all their users, including me?
3.) What evidence, do you have that indicates there is a general routing of network traffic to jhb via london?
4.) lastly, who says all the servers for csgo is in jhb ? According to the above fixes, there are servers in cpt, which I should be able to get locally!?
From what I can tell, there seems to be no general re-routing of traffic to the servers listed in the youtube post from the .json file. also, most of the traffic first goes via optinet(IS) to mweb, from what I can see, but I've not looked at in detail. I do not leave south african shores for example, when I traceroute from work to one of the servers listed, and the ping is < 18ms to one of the jhb servers.
All I can think here is that, they must be working on these servers, for what ever reason, and routing all traffic *from* these servers to the nearest working hosts *eu*.
But they not communicating anything which is strange, since the people are paying customers for the most part of their servers. If this was in eu/usa, they'd say something, I would bet.

1. Try to connect without changing your files, lets say search for a Comp, then as soon as it gives you the "Ping to nearest servers are 220ms" open up your console in CSGO and then you wil get a nice list of were the servers for CSGO are around the world, you will see CPT servers has a direct route to your PC the ping will be ~70ms, BUT the main relay server for CSGO is in Jhb and for some reason the traffic is not routed from Cape Town but instead from LHW, which is London Heathrow server, thus giving us 400ms ping, because the ping of the relay server "Jhb" is over 400ms it goes to the next lowest ping relay server which is 90% the one in Sweden or Germany.
2. There are 5 matchmaking servers for CSGO in South Africa, 1 in Cape Town, 4 in Jhb (1x Master Relay server, 3 normal servers). All traffic on CSGO are usually routed through Jhb, now if you apply the fix in the network.json file you will SEE if you search again for Comp and open up your console that Jhb now gets Routed through from Cpt and usually it is other way around
Hope it clears it up for you
This is whats wrong. In the network_config.json file you get this piece of code
The
Makes it ignore that and allows you to connect to the za servers
