Why does a mollotov work in water

Title.
Why can you throw a molly in watter on canals or construction on overpass?

because any sort of flamable liquid that is less dense than water will burn on water. Since molotov is basically alcohol (flamable) and alcohol is less dense than both pure water and salt water, it will burn on water. This is the same reason why crude oil also burns on top of water. Although, I dont recommend trying any of this yourself...

But I tried it IRL and it didn't burn for long.Tho we used pure Alcohol.
