The key is to play to your strengths, in this case your aiming style. No one would tell s1mple to start doing arm aiming out of no where when he's obviously adept in the style, same with someone who does arm aiming. Once you have this in mind, it's easier to find a sensitivity that works for you. In the case of someone like OP I'd tell them to go much lower but still stick to the parameters of wrist aiming.
Thats insane high sensitivity even for a rifler ... normal a rifler got betwen 400-1000 edpi .. snipers between 350-750 edpi .. if you get them higher than 1000 edpi you will overshoot your targets alot ..
I play with very low sensitivity around 400-450 edpi .. but i allso move my hand alot & very very fast when playing .. on a flickshot i can outperform the 50+ geforce my mouse can take, my flick peak is closer to 100g than 50g on the flicks ! so im hold back by the hardware´s performances & latency´s between them !
The fastest humans on the planet got less than 1ms in reaction time & to take the shot with a full body motion .. Faster shooters in revolvers as a good example, or Jerry Miculek with his revolvers ?

Look at this footage from s1mple with a supposed high sens.

You can see his arm doesn't even move, it's all in the wrist. The reason why arm aiming seems to be more common is because of the nature of the game itself, it isn't a fast vertical style shooter like quake and arm aiming allows for less error, but that doesn't mean it's superior in mechanics only for ease of learning and honing. If someone can be good with wrist aiming, they shine. That's why we have legends like s1mple, f0rest etc the style shows in their gameplay but also serves to show that it is hard to master, hence why many lean towards arm aiming.
The more you do it, the more people will do it.
Edit: Small mousepads are so sweet!

You can sort by eDPI for highest mouse sensitivity among pro players.
