Counter-Strike 2
WLAN vs LAN CABLE - [PING]
I play with WLAN at 60-120ms with cl_interp_2. I hit everything i shoot to. No problems in hitbox. But when i play cl_interp 1 i miss everything cuz i need a lower ping for this interpolation. Should i buy a long LAN CABLE today to lower my ping?
Who has experience with this topic?
best wishes wintertime

WLAN is worse the LAN in all ways. Using LAN I have a constant 5 ping connection always literally. WLAN I get around 30. What also is cool is if you use LAN other people can still use the Wi-Fi without interrupting your game play ping. So they can still watch YouTube or Netflix and it will not effect your connection.

A good WLAN (really good one) will make NO difference when playing. But you don't only need a good router, you need a good WLAN in your PC/Laptop. Most people can't even saturate their internet and a WLAN Upload/Download speed can be way way faster than the actual internet connection. If you have a bad WLAN and/or walls between you and the router that speed will fall below 1mbps. I get full speed over WLAN (AC) and I have a 220mbps line (download).

LAN is still better .-.

Really? Define better. Because most people have a 1gbps lan card, and n WLAN with AC and a 4x4 radio can do over 1gbps. So define which is better... And why. If you're soooo smart :D

Well like you said if you have a GOD Wlan card and a pretty descent router also that may not be the only variable. There is one thing you left out big smart man. ISP? Yeah not everyone can buy 120mbps.

bandwidth != ping

That has nothing to do with WLAN vs LAN. But yeah, with neither ideal equipment nor ideal conditions, which will be the case for most people, WLAN usually performs worse than wired connections, regarding bandwidth as well as latency.

LOL. Really? But if bandwidth isn't the restricting factor no LAN/WLAN card/router will make your ping better because it's a PC problem. Otherwise bandwidth = ping...

Yup I know that.
There are more than five people (whole family) using our WLAN connection. When they open something on their smartphone my ping rises to 200-500. Would this go away if i use a LAN cable?

Maybe. Maybe not. That depends on whether your ping increases because the bandwidth/capacity of your WLAN is exhausted or that of your internet connection. If it's just the WLAN, your ping won't go up on cable. If it's the internet it might not help at all.

In your case yes, probably. Because the WLAN is being saturated by 4-5 people at one time. Unless you buy a 4x4 AC router, you should use a cable!

1gbs or 2gbs doesnt matter, that has nothing to do with the ping.
you dont decrease your ping when you upgrade from 1gbs to 2gbs. the distance is the same.
