Stigma against those with no mic
I'm in SEM at the moment. Lately, CS:GO has been a trippy experience for me, with half of my games being with mature players, and the other half being the topic of this thread.

I've encountered many players that not only straight up tell you, "Why don't you have a mic? Go get a mic. You can't play this game without a mic", but when you start doing badly in terms of KD, they will start blaming it on the fact that you don't have a mic, and when they get jumped by an enemy, they will go straight to accusing you of being at fault because you are unable to call out. It's not uncommon for them to also call vote to kick you, especially if they're in a group.

I'm one of the few people with no mic that churn out callouts instantly in chat. Furthermore, I donate constantly and am actually a decent player, if not better than the rest of the team at times. But oft these all get forgotten once they quickly trip into frustration. Some even go as far as saying that they're actually losing because my callouts in chat are distracting them.

Oddly enough, when I'm top fragging, I find that nobody really dares to diss me, so it seems as though they don't actually have some crusade against those with no mic, but are simply finding excuses to be aggressive towards bottom fraggers (what makes me suspect this is the fact that the community in my bracket is also prone to vote kicking and overall being rude and dismissive to bottom frags, something I find odd considering that all of us have been at the same spot before).

I find the whole debacle quite hypocritical. They do not say anything for completely silent players. They do not say anything for even those that have a mic but refuse to talk. They do not say anything for those that are talking while there are still teammates trying to listen and fight. And finally, they don't say anything towards those that don't use their mic for enforcing teamwork, and instead talk about random things like their food, memes, or even a circlejerk against their own team members, ruining cohesion.

Also, as other players I've seen have noted, the game does not explicitly list the mic as a mandatory gear, either.

I do understand the reasoning behind why a mic, as an essential tool for communication, is something that every serious player should get. Up at MG, every player should already be mature and well acquainted with making callouts with a mic, instead of relying on team members to work without them or look down at chat.

But in my bracket, there are half a dozen things that are lacking and are just as important for being successful in the game, and those talking trash about their team on a mic ignore all of them, especially when they themselves are at fault. Why pick on those with no mics, when they are otherwise contributing to the team heavily through chat and teamwork? Why go beyond the occasional remark, and straight up start an argument with other team members?

Furthermore, it is definitely possible to appreciate a good teammate without a mic. I have played in many games where people praise me for making callouts, typing fast, clutching and getting good kills, and donating. Those same people often embody the spirit of the game as they play, focusing on the game and making callouts instead of on each other.

But everytime I go for a solo queue, I wonder which game I will play; a satisfying, mature game, or a toxic game that leaves me much more frustrated than when I started? And I land on the latter enough that even if I git gud, it feels as though it will be a rough journey trying to break out of the Silver bracket.

What do you think?

And it is perfectly alright for you to assert that the mic is just as important of equipment as the speaker, mouse, and keyboard. If you'd like, I won't chide you for being aggressive towards my point of view (though I suggest you read my post again and think things through). From what I've searched up online, it seems that some CS:GO players do get triggered or overall aggravated whenever someone without a mic enters Comp. I'd like to hear your opinion on it, I suppose.

TL;DR How do you feel about how those without mics are treated? Are you happy with it, and agree, or would you like to see some change?

You answered your own question. Given that this game revolves around split second decisions based on urgently needed information, a player that DOESNT have a microphone is a liability.

People without mics, people that have them and don't use them, and people that have them and abuse them can be just as frustrating as someone without one.

I don't actively give someone ♥♥♥♥ for not having a mic, but the fact that it's 2017 and you can find a cheap headset on amazon for $14 (I know because I used to have one and it's quite decent) just boggles my mind more than anything.

When my old old mic broke I refused to even play competitive because of how frustrating it is to not be able to communicate effectively.

CSGO is a team based game and requires good communication. You need a mic

So basically you're a dumbass.

The reason no one says anything to you if you're top fragging is because you're compensating for the fact you don't have a mic, though it's not good at least you're making up for it.

Playing without a mic is selfish and not competitive.

You say you're a decent player and normally do good on the scoreboard but if you don't communicate with your team with a mic then you have your info and their info to go off however they only have their info.

Also typing in chat is not good it's not competitive, you have to draw your attention to chat rather than what's in front of you i've died many times because a typer or silent person hasn't said the required info on the mic, i've also died many times because I've had to look at the chat to see what they said and while my attention has been drawn away I've been peaked/pushed and died.

Players like you make my blood boil, all players who queue comp without a mic.

My mic broke for a week and guess what I did? I did not play csgo comp.

It's completely and utterly selfish of you, stop burdening competitive teams with the likes of yourself.

Why would I care if it's an old forum? People online can still read it, I know it's old, so what? stfu

I'd care if you were having a discussion but your FIRST LINE is insulting them.

You dug up a 3 year old complaint just so you can score some "Big Boy Bully" points?

This is why people are pointing it out.

"big boy bully points" lmao gtfo

people with no mics are a big problem in competitve and I was aggressive not to score points but because I'm fed up of being paired with these kinds of idiots, not matter how many times I tell people in game to use their mics they just don't, it's rude to ignore, although mics aren't mandatory if you're queueing competitve you should be wise enough to use a mic, and it should be mandatory.

You bumped a 3 year old topic to call someone a name.

I dunno what to tell you other than: that's impressively petty dude. Grats.
