Theoretically it is but Valve makes it seem like it isn't.

Since you have to buy keys in order to open cases, and the results are unknown, yes, it can be considered gambling.
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/gambling.You get an item no matter what you do you will allways get an item not a chance to get one you just get one so no personally i don't think that CS:GO cases are "gambling".

That is not correct. Gambling can be either win or lose. When you invest several Euros in cases and get only 1 cent skins out of them, you lose a lot of money. That and the fact that the results are random and based on luck totally makes this gambling.

Well to be fair you don't technically loose anything but probably a few cents depending on when item you get.As you get an item no matter what and as in the definition it states risks and chance of loose you get a virtual item in exchange for the money you spent on the case.

1. It's lose, not loose. People on this forum always spell it wrong, thus teach it incorrectly to other kids. As Trump would say: Not good.

2. Yes, you do lose a lot. Paying 2.60 for a key, then selling the item for 1 c is a huge loss, no? People rarely keep the skins they draw from cases. So how is this not a risk of loss of money? That's what Valve introduced the Market for. It's all about the money! You spend real money on virtual goods, so you don't really receive anything in return, do you? When you gamble, you don't receive anything either except money (if you happen to win), so anything that has a random outcome and is based on value/money, is gambling.

I think yes it is. It's a gambling. You will have extremely small chances to get the rare item. The house will always wins. :steammocking:
