Does a GPU affect FPS at all?
Hello.

I was wondering if a graphics card affects your frame-rate at all. I was planning on upgrading my ASUS R7 250 1GB to a ASUS RX 460 2GB OC, and I wanted to know if i will see a frame-rate boost as much as 20fps. I know CS:GO is a CPU (FX-8320E) intensive game, but I wanna get a new graphics card for other games that are gpu intensive.

also will there even be a 20fps difference between the two?

Woow dude your R7 is already good for CS:GO. I run with a +10 years old GPU and I have no problems running CS on 150 FPS.

r7s are pretty trash, its only if you need a card but have like 50 bucks. Save up and get a 460, it'll give you around 60 fps. I got 100+ fps

You will see a rise in frames going from that gpu to the one you want, but, like hogarth said, it could be bottlenecked by other old components in your rig. Or, when in doubt, fresh install of OS.
