Packet loss <20% ONLY in CSGO
Hey guys! Recently, I have been experiencing major loss of packets in CSGO. Spikes go from 9% all the way to 35%, which makes the game literally unplayable, as I am dead before I even see the enemy.

All this wouldn't be that weird, but this packet loss happens in CSGO - exclusively. Ping command in cmd, various online tools, and TeamSpeak show 0.0% packet loss, and my internet connection is perfect otherwise. I haven't changed anything to the game, except updating for the latest Hydra roll-out, and verified my game integrity (because the game required so).

This has been happening for the past 48 hours in pretty random intervals. Such as 3AM, 4-5PM, and so on. Any ideas how to fix it? This sh*** drives me crazy. I know I am supposed to study for my exams next week, but you know...

P.S. Yes, I tried googling this matter. No, I haven't found anything.

Thanks for any help in advance!

I would have to suggest it occurring for one of two reasons; or combo of both perhaps.

1) ISP main line issues, which just are not bad enough to effect web browsing

2) particular to the CSGO servers u are getting on, as not all will be good, even if u can get on them successfully. FPS has nothing to really do with Internet Connection. If u have poor ping or packet lose, then the overall online experience in said game will be poor, as others with better ping will usually have the jump on u.

Please close any web apps (such as Steam), launch a web browser and run PingTest.net
Run that test 3 - 5 times to get a sense of accuracy and share your results here. If this reveals packet loss or high jitter, u may need to contact ISP and have your line checked for problems.

Thank you for your input. I am using Avast!. I'll definitely try making an exception for this, however I really doubt that this would be the cause of all this - especially after years of using this combination.

"Pingtest has been discontinued

Ookla is devoted to providing world-class products and services. Sometimes that means saying goodbye to old products, like Pingtest, and hello to new ones..."

However, http://freeola.com/line-test/ has shown following, very consistent and similar results all five times I tried:
- Packets Lost: None; Latency: 24.088ms; Jitter: 2ms

You were talking FPS, and ping. No issues there, playing usually on a stable 5-25ms ping on 300+ fps. No choke, just packet loss.

I just helped someone yesterday with this exact issue and he was using Avast too.

Edit: He uninstalled Avast and that seems to have resolved the problem for him.

Oh, I will try adding the exception, and will post the results here. Which antivirus are you guys using, in case I'll have to get rid of Avast?

Just the version that comes with Windows. Works for me (on 7 PCs and laptop/tablets).

My paths for processes listed, in case it helps:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\cef\cef.win7\steamwebhelper.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\GameOverlayUI.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Steam\SteamService.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\steamservice.exe

Add C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ to the folder exception list in AV also.

Awesome, thank you. I will keep you updated, after I play multiple MM.

I'm back with an update on the situation. Looks like adding the exception into Avast has worked. Thank you, Sir!

It's your isp.

CSGO did have issues with packet loss but that was ... in january, when it got so bad that the servers didn't work anymore.
