Co-op in an infinite "please wait" loading screen

Me and my friend have been playing Borderlands GOTY enhanced just fine in co-op the last couple of weeks. Since today we're unable to join each other session, we get stuck in an infinite "please wait" loading screen. Anyone else been having this issue?

been having the exact same issue, played a few days ago no issues at all, tried playing again today and stuck on infinite please wait screen when either of us try to join each other.

Earlier today me and my friend were able to play just fine again. Must be connectivity issues on the game's end! I read on reddit that the BL GOTY Enhanced had more players than usual (>2000), might have had to do with it.

Yes this worked for my friend and i the other day. I started the game and he just went to join.
Today the invite works fine though
