FIX for constant low FPS.
https://twitter.com/Joltzdude139/status/1264656128123731968?s=20 Follow this guide and then scroll down to MildlyDepressedClam's comment, and expand the replies. They will have a screenshot of which files you need to delete in the movies folder of the game.

What this does is remove the files which are causing a memory leak, which is causing the low FPS. The files in question are the Angels videos. So you should delete all of the NAR_Echo_Vog's, the Outro.bk2, and the VoG files.

I did this in my game, and went from constant 10 fps, to 140+ fps.

for me and my friend, locking FPS to 60 also solved the issue

deleted them all but after some time my fps still deteriorates, sometimes even to just around 10 fps when looking a certain direction (vsync is on, I have a 3060Ti)

For me the following worked. This involves a little bit of file editing, but nothing too crazy. Took me a while to figure it out and might not work for everyone, but since my game works alright now I think it’s worth trying.

1) Navigate to D:\My Games\Borderlands Game of the Year WillowGame\Config\WillowEngine
2) press ctrl+F > a search bar should pop up > type in MinSmoothedFrameRate and you'll see that it has a number next to it (it's usually 22), set that to 0; right under that there's MaxSmoothedFrameRate set that to 0 as well.
After this, press ctrl+F again and search for SmoothedFrameRate. It should say FALSE, but in case it doesn't set it to FALSE. Then save this file (upper left corner > file > save)

If you did everything right, then this is how it should look:
MinSmoothedFrameRate = 0
MaxSmoothedFrameRate = 0
SmoothedFrameRate = FALSE

Do not forget to save it!

If it didn’t work just verify the game files and everything should be back to normal.

replying so others will see, this fix worked for me playing in 2025. before doing this my game would drop to 10-20fps after playing for some time. what a joke of an "enhanced edition", and they haven't even bothered to patch it in almost two years.
thanks!

I watched a video on Youtube explaining that the cause of Memory Leak comes from traveling too much between maps, accumulating files that should be eliminated by the Engine. Does this fix work still? Thanks
