Just bought the game and enjoying it so far on solo, currently level 26.

At the start (levels 1- 10)i felt that the difficulty was just right, my level was consistent with the mission levels and completing missions felt like an accomplishment.

Since level 11 the game felt progressively easier, and from level 20 it was a walk in the park, now i'm level 26 dispatching level 29 enemies is not difficult at all. I'm generally a few levels above the mission levels and I didn't even complete all optional missions!

Will it continue to be like this till end game? i'm enjoying it less and less over time and not sure if it's worth investing my time into this if i'm not having fun.

If you play Lilith the game becomes easier and easier from lvl 11 on. You don't even need to upgrade your SMGs that often.

BL1 is a really easy game when you got the hang of it. Especially with some skills from the characters. It also feels like its relatively easy to obtain better weapons faster in the Enhanced version

Good gear can carry for a long time even if you are underleveled.

Also what character are you playing? If Lilith then it's understandable, she's easiest to play and the strongest. Also the most boring. I always kick out Lilith players from my public games.

It's because Gearbox changed something with the amount of xp in this Enhanced edtion.
If you play to the original version, you will have to do all side quest to not be lower lvl than your enemies, and in this enhanced edition, if you do all side quest you will have a bigger level than your enemies.
I don't know why they did this and why didn't speak about it, maybe to make it more "casual".

seems like way too much orange gear in this version though, not that i'm complaining about that

I'm playing the soldier guy rolound?

That's interesting that you mentioned the enhanced version give more xp, perhaps I should have just played the original version. I'll continue for a bit and see how it goes.

Sounds much more interesting to have to be forced to do optionals, some are so easy and the rewards are too low level that there isn't an incentive for me to go back and do them.

If I start playing the original GOTY edition will that be a similar case? Also what improvements have they made? Will some quality of life changes be difficult to go back on. Finally for multiplayer do they have seperate servers for both edition or are they combined?

Probably seperate servers.
But you can "do the game" in GOTY and later import your save to the Enhanced edition to play with other players.
In original game, graphics are less beautiful, several video features in less, like FOV, windowed borderlesss... No mini map, old inventory hud, no golden key/chest.

I remember building Mordecai into a spec where all he had to do was non-stop spam his bird which doesn't require aiming AND also absorbed health to make him completely invincible against anything +5 levels.
