Can't get into New Haven Basement

I got the "Another Piece of the Puzzle" quest, have done none of it, but still can't get into the New Haven secret basement. Is this a known issue, or just how it is?

I think you must select this mission or kill Rakk Hive to open the door. The door will be locked once the Vault piece is picked up.

The update for the enhanced edition MAY have glitched it.

Select the quest, and go to the door, you may have to click on it or go right to it.

wait what!?! I been through original borderlands multiple times, and this version so far once and I never knew of that place

Just got to this mission on my second playthrough and the door is working fine

yeah i did it on first playthrough, when you get mission to kill rakk hive enter trash coat then fast travel back to new haven, you get a lvl21 rider rifle, as your around lvl28 then its pretty useless
