Borderlands GOTY Enhanced

Borderlands GOTY Enhanced

I keep getting General Protection Fault
Literally every time I press continue and boot to the menu screen on boot.

I played a decent amount of time so far with no issues at all, GTX 770 here a little dated but playable fully.

Has Gearbox even addressed these issues? Will there be a patch anytime soon or are they focused on BL3 and just released this into the wild without a care in the world?

I've tried a guide and user suggestions, nothing works. So like. What the ♥♥♥♥.

Literally all the fixes haven't worked at least for me

I'll wait until 2K / Gearbox fix this ♥♥♥♥ officially cause for now I'll stick to Vanilla or just Enhanced Solo cause Co-op 100% will crash for me whether it's 5 mins in or even 15 mins if I'm lucky

In Steam > Help > System Information: Tell us what you're rolling with.

Start from scratch.

Use Display Driver Installer while in Safe Mode to clean out driver files.

Reinstall latest driver files.

Try again.

I have got the same 'General Protection Fault'.
I've tried All the fixes and no joy.
I sometimes can get the game to run if I run the 'Borderlands exe' in the 'Binaries' folder as 'Administrator' but NO IN GAME SOUND and NO SUBTITLES.
This game has got too many serious issues. Feels like I've just flushed £25 down the toilet.
Does anybody know if there is any updates planned that maybe fix all the issues that's wrong with this damned game ?
I would be obliged for any help.
Honestly it comes and goes for me. Yesterday I was playing just fine again. I'm really not sure what triggers it anymore at this point.

I've played 50 odd hours without seeing a GPF, but today it won't start. Keeps saying General Protection Fault and something about a file missing.

Weirdly its the .ini file that I edited to turn on DemiGod mode (to get through Moxxi DLC). The file is still there.

Warning: Warning, Failed to load 'Class None.game-ini:Engine.GameInfo.DefaultGlobals': Can't find 'game-ini:Engine.GameInfo.DefaultGlobals' in configuration file section=Engine.GameInfo key=DefaultGlobals C:\Users\rob\Documents\My Games\Borderlands Game of the Year\WillowGame\Config\WillowGame.ini

The issue appears to be that Notepad changed the file encoding from 1252 (Ansi - Latin 1) to UTF-8. Saving the file out again using Ultraedit to change the encoding back to ANSI, allows the game to run again.

tldr; If you edited any of the games .ini files, checked that they are saved out again using ANSI file encoding, otherwise Borderlands will crash.

I'm on the same boat here....
Bloody hell... Video games are getting worst and worst , every years , now.
Even and "old" game like Borderland GOTY. Congratulation Gearbox ..oups sorry ...
I should say "Blind Squirrel Games" because Gearbox was TOO LAZY to code it ! great!
Nice carbon copy, Blind Squirrel Games ! You even recreate the bug inside the first edition of the game ! kudos !
At least on console, you can't fu*** your client so bad and you need to patch the game quickly ... on PC..?? Who gives a f*** anyway ?
And I don't have a bad or slow PC (I'm using a 1080 Ti graphical card..). I really appreciate the usual nvidia video... before the General Protection Fault crash... YUK !

I had the same problem at launch. Did a complete driver cleanup with DDU and then installed latest nvidia drivers.

Another solution if you are on a laptop w/ NVIDIA GPU:

I had a general protection fault error with all kinds of files missing. The problem was on a laptop. Turns out the laptop was trying to use the wrong GPU by default.

I went to Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings tab (it may freeze for a bit while loading) > Under "1. Select the program to customize" select the game executable from the drop down menu. > Under "2. Select the prefered graphics processor for this program" select High Performance NVIDIA Processor > Click "Apply" at the bottom of the window.

I did the same thing for the launcher.exe for the game as well. The game starts fine for me now.

Ive been doing that too, and for some reason it doesn't let me select a prefered graphics processor. Odd..
Ive been running into no-end of problems with this remaster: so much so it wont even open!

Sorry to hear that. Good luck.

You will only see this option if you are on a laptop, so have an igpu and gpu.

Update, it was the Bitdefender Firewall, added it to my exclusions and happiness, the game could take to the Shift server. (Hope this helps)

*****************************************************************************************************

I had this issue on my PC, it happened when i tried to enter shift codes, I disabled my AV (Bitdefender) and it works, will investigate if its the Bitdefender AV/Firewall or the Ransomware protection, will update shortly.
Again, I disabled my AV completely and its working.

I finally got it to work, you NEED and working Internet connection at startup or else it will crash.
I tried EVERYTHING but nothing worked.
I have no internet at the moment so i used USB Thethering with my Phone and it started.
Yeah it's internet that crashes, can agree with that one
Sometimes my connection is bad sometimes it's stable, that should never be an issue but whatever. Gearbox will never fix issues on this game anyways more than likely.
Yeah I have a GTX 1070 build now I literally just bought a new PC and clean installed, still get this error.
Why? Because my internet is not the best atm.

Goes to show that Gearbox really just doesn't care. The fact that it's even an issue boggles my mind when it should be able to play offline - singleplayer just fine.
