Can't get past the launcher
I have no idea why, but whenever I press play from the launcher it closes and just doesn't do anything. I've redownloaded to game and can't find out what's wrong. I can launch the old version fine.

Launcher was crashing on me.
Managed to hit settings and got the options open and the lanucher hasn't crashed, I have a GTX970 that all the other borderlands run fine with but The BL1 Remaster has decided to use my Intel HD Graphics.

No idea yet as to how to get it to use the Geforce card.
This I think might be the problem.

GTX970 is set as my primary display. None of my other 450 odd Steam games do this.

I need my comment to be stickied because I have a 100% WORKING solution to this problem:

I had the EXACT same issue with everyone else here, the game refused to start, it kept coming up with initialization error etc
I tried reinstalling the game, verifying the integrity of the local files, uninstalled Steam, NOTHING WORKS

To fix it, go into your program folder where Steam is located C: steam/steamapps/common/BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced/Binaries....now find the Launcher.exe, now rename it to Launcher.old, now see the main Borderlands exe, rename THAT to Launcher, exit out and restart the game, it should work!!

This is a terrible bug that Gearbox needs to address...for some reason when launching the game it doesn't know where to look for it in your steam folder, so by renaming those 2 things it can see the game now and work for you

Hope this helps guys

somehow, that makes the splash screen load FASTER, but the exe still crashes anyway. Interesting attempt though

Did you rename the files exactly as I said?

Yes. Original Launcher to Launcher.old and BorderlandsGOTY to Launcher. It makes a difference to the increased speed of the splash screen, but it still crashes anyway.

How I fixed it myself just now was to open NVIDIA Control Panel
-Manage 3D Settings
-Program Settings
Added Borderlands via "borderlandsgoty.exe"
Hit apply.

Relaunched the game, launcher went back to "Automatically detected settings"
Hit ok, pressed Play game loaded.

Launcher Settings still show Intel HD as the GPU, but going by MSI afterburner the game is now using the GTX970.

You could try
-NoLauncher
command in the launch options for the game. But it sounds like it's not the launcher that is the problem, but the game itself.
copypasted what you said in the Launch Options, somehow the launcher still inicialized?

Okay I have a feeling it is still using the Intel HD graphics but displaying on the Geforces display.
Gonna have to look for how to force the Geforce card via configs and probably have to set them to read only.

Primary Display outputting from the Nvidia card is 1920x1080 75mhz
Games video settings keeps reverting to 1920x1080 50mhz (Intel display is running at 60mhz....)
anisotropic filtering set to 16x keeps changing to "triplebuffer"

What a cluster ♥♥♥♥ this is.

Having this issue as well. Played just fine for a few hours after launch, can no longer load game. I've verified several times and re-installed to have the same issue.
