Still no local co-op.
I paid for the BL2/BLP (Handsome Collection) combo for my PS4 and for $20 got two whole games that work in 4P split screen.

I know PCs are very personal and most of the time they are used by a single person, but this seems like a massive hole to still not bother to include even 2P split screen.

It seems strange to also remove LAN as an option which was in the original PC version of BL1.

Split screen co-op on a computer sounds horrible. This is what a lan party connection is for.
There's a mod for that.

I'm just saying that juxtaposed to that console combo the PC releases are still missing a burgeoning demographic.

Why? No latency. My PC is connected to both a 27 inch monitor and 50 inch TV. There is no advantage to LAN gaming over local co-op.

You did notice they removed LAN as an option for Borderlands 1 GOTY enhanced edition didn't you?

The options are now only online friends, online public & offline

I am not getting into advantages of local co-op. Unless it's something like a Mortal Kombat tournament.

It's even worse than I thought! :squirtooh:

The way I see it as a PC player 'our' version of split-screen is LAN.... funny Randy never mentioned we would be losing thing with the remastered version.

I honestly don't know why they would remove a feature they already had in place.
Why the *#$#$ would they remove LAN?! Was it because I used two instances of the game running with alt-tab macros to get the Duelist challenges overnight?

I dunno it is still there for BL2 after their update, haven't checked BPS let.

Obviously if you have the original BL1 in your library you can still play LAN with the older version but AFAK character importing is a 1 way street between BL1-> BL1-enhanced

I love people that seem to think computers can only be attached to small PC monitors.

HDMI's work on TV too people... You can hook a PC to a huge home theatre system and play many games splitscreen with higher framerates and graphics than a typical console.

Of course you can hook up a PC to a tv, heck that is literally the point of what the steam link was.

Obviously a monitor is gong to be better though due to lower latency vs even fairly pricey tvs.

At the end of the day it is a trade-off.

Personally I wish they had left LAN in & brought across the split-screen feature from consoles, it does seem preferable to removing LAN & not bothering with split-screen at all.

Why should we need to mod in a feature that comes standard in the console versions? It just doesn't make sense.
Lord Villain Apr 3, 2019 @ 1:47pm
If I remember correctly essentially the mod was using a VM & a second steam account, so no it wasn't really split-screen co-op & required a far beefier machine as it had to run a virtual machine as well as a regular copy of the game.

It was called nucleus and it worked for a few other games, I think it just managed to run 4 instances of the game. I came to the discussions for the exact reason as Lord Villain. 10 years and we still don't get a feature that's always added to consoles but not on PC because everyone just seems to forget that you can hook up a TV to a PC. Even for the people who won't use it, it is an option; something you have that's there when you feel like playing with family or friends.
