borderlands GOTY enhanced not saving progress

Hi everybody so i started playing borderlands as a siren and went up to level 7 and had to quit.When i restarted the game my save was deleted. So i thought how stupid you have to manually save the game. So i did that just to test it after the first mission didn't work. So if annybody knows a fix please let me know other wise i will just play the not enhanced version because that work fine.

"Manually save?" There's only one way to intentionally save: Quit, either to menu or desktop. The game saves automatically on map transitions and at checkpoints [marked by abstruse poles with lights that change color when you trigger them].

Is this your first Borderlands experience? This is the way these games work.

About the save being deleted: Do you have cloud synchronization turned on in the Steam Library? If you don't, your saves will be stored locally at default location C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\My Games\Borderlands Game of the Year\Binaries\SaveData

However, the save being deleted suggests that you do have cloud sync turned on, and that when you launched the game after quitting, there was a file mismatch*, and the directory state was overwritten. *But, you usually get an error informing you of this.

Experimenting with an old version of Willowtree, I did see your problem among my results, but I cannot figure out what else may have caused it.
