regeneration of energy
Why some units can automatically regenerate their energy bar at the start of each combat turn ( like the unit of Mark Guilder ) and others cannot ?

I checked the character stats and cant find any ability to regenerate energy. There is a skill "double repair" which regen 10% hp/en but that requires to be activated.

It's from the Raid Group. You start with a Battleship and a Raid Group. Mark Guilder is the default leader of the Raid Group.
When in a Raid Group, there are two types of passive recovery:
- only energy: when units are away from each other. Usually it's 30% EN per turn. You can see it when you try to move an unit - it'll show a "30% EN" next to the square.
- HP and energy: when units are adjacent to each other. Usually it's 30% HP and 10% EN per turn. You can see it as green squares adjacent to another unit.

In addition to this I'd like to mention: The units the OP noticed not regenerating energy are likely the ones from his starting warship. Units from a warship don't regenerate energy unless some other game mechanism (mobile suit ability etc) causes them to do so.

There is no skill for it. It depends on the Mobile Suit. Some automatically come with the modification that allows it. I believe for others you can go and add the modification if you can unlock it.
Like 00 series GN-Drive perk, only few unit can regen EN as default feature. Also there are pilot ability and OP parts that can regen EN if you managed to find some.

Either its the units passive ability or it is in a raid group. I think the Gundam Phoenix full armour has such an ability (Nanoskin I think?) that activates at the start of its turn. As far as I know, characters don't have those kinds of passive abilities, being more in line with stat buffs.

on top of unit perks like Gn-drives there is also (raid) perks that will restore 30% EN unless in a green square next to raid members which will do ~30% hp & 10% EN

there's active skill energy charge 1 and 2 and there's the resupply skill I recommend giving everybody the resupply skill it's not cheap though it cost 30,000
the energy charge level 1 and 2 skill recovers all allies nearby part of the same group level 1 is 10% level 2 is 25% if they're nearby that unit or battleship
the dispatch Mission it requires the skill will give you the skill if you don't have it

Regen either happens because the unit has EN regen, you are utilizing it in a raid team, or the pilot may have some sort of passive. Phoenix Gundam can regenerate EN independently. Master units in a warship team can also regenerate EN independently.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

MS from 00 are great early on since they basically ignores most of the EN issues until you can get a decent warship with enough movement to actually keep up with your group along with another hanger bday so you can sortie another team.
