Adoption Limit
I'm working in the Creation Kit trying to figure this out but I'd really like to raise the adoption limit. There are at least three kids I have to adopt. The others have kind of sucky lives but they'll live. But the ones living in Dawnstar, Windhelm, and Whiterun live shockingly cruel lives. Why can't anyone take them in. Why can't I take in one more kid? I'm pretty sure my wife, steward, live in bard, and the carriage driver I have on retainer can take care of at least three kids on that palatial estate, especially since I added a bedroom wing.

I go to Whiterun a lot and its just killing me watching that little girl run begging for gold when I get paid like 100 gold for taking a sword across town to the castle.

First step would be to add a third alias to the adoption quest, but I wouldn't know where to go from there. I chose Lucia and Sofie.

Don't forget the kid in the Solitude Stables - he has it kinda rough too (though maybe not as bad as those three you mentioned). Honestly, I feel really sorry for the "strays" too - at least the orphanage kids have a warm place to stay and don't have to work their tails off. I feel the worst for the Windhelm girl -brrrrr!

Oh agreed. The Dawnstar boy probably has it worse but I feel slightly greater pity for the Windhelm girl, especially since I first encountered her shivering in that back corner in the gravel scared because nobody bought any flowers again today. I think its because I actually saw her plight rather than just hearing about it like I did with the others.

And yes, I'd adopt the Solitude boy too if I could adopt four. He's at least being provided for and cared for. The other three have it worse and I'm not even considering the Honorhall kids. Once you kill Grelod the Kind, they have a kindly caretaker and beds to sleep in at night.

SFBryan. I stumbled across that too last night but it didn't work. At least it didn't work in my existing game where I'd already adopted two children. I could try using it in a new game and see if it works there. What I did was duplicate the existing child aliases and rename them and i got one error.

So I know this is a year old but has anyone been able to find a mod or something to allow more that two children to be adopted?

I haven't tried this mod yet but the description says it allows up to 6 adoptions. Be sure to read all the details. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=122852220

^ I use it myself and yes, it does work.

@Zefram - which house mod do you use with it? The "Additional Beds for Vanilla homes" looks like the only one that covers Vintrall (sp) Hall which is where I prefer to live.

Thank you, now I can save all the kids, or atleast all the ones outside honor hall

Yeah I'm thrilled this was made. Its working brilliantly in my game. Might even unload a couple of those Honorhall kids.

I'm currently using it with Candlepond Ranch and it works fine. TMphoenix (the author) maintains a list of currently supported house mods on the Nexus pages version of his mod.

It works fine with all vanilla homes although there aren't enough beds for all the kids to sleep in so they just stand around all night with nothing to do. Otherwise theres no problems.

I haven't adopted yet, but I want to get the house in Windhelm so that flower girl has a place to stay (even if I never go there). First time I saw her, she was sleeping in the snow at night. Jeez, that hits home. Ran into her again, bought all she had, remembered this time what city she's in. Dunno what I need to send her to a hearthfire house, but the one with bedrooms is unfinished inside.

First you need to get the childs bedroom set from your steward (for hearthfire houses) or the jarls advisor..cant remember what their title is.
I also think you have to be married, but after that just talk to her and an option for hey, I could adopt you should come up.

I too have adopted the girl in Windhelm. You do not need to buy the house in Windhelm. If you own any home in Skyrim that has a children's bedroom, you will be allowed to adopt her, and she will go to that home, no matter what city it is in.

I already get the option, I just don't have a kid's bedroom. Oh, and no steward yet in the Hearthfire homes. I was going to get all the houses anyway; Windhelm just makes sense, so she doesn't have to move far to some strange place. :) Basically, it'd be HER house, and the rest of Windhelm can suck it.
