Houses are COMPLETELY gone. Help?

So here's my problem, which I don't know a fix for. My houses are gone. Not the little ones in the towns, Haljarchen Hall and those ones. My spouse and children were there as was most my stuff. I'm not sure when it disappeared, and I did quite a few quests before realizing it was gone, so going back to a different save wont really work.

Sort of a common bug. I'm not sure of the cause but for some reason the houses can disappear while they're being constructed as well and no amount of reloading or mod adjustment can fix it.

Google and try to find a forum thread to see if there's a fix.

op, What mods do you have installed if any? And when you say "missing" does that mean the house itself is gone, leaving a blank space in the world? You should try and get a screenshot if you can.

I was playing with mods, but i uninstalled them because i didnt like them. And when I say gone i mean gone. No icon, you go to the location and its non exsistant. My spouse (who i now found) went back to the location she started the game in and all my children are gone. I think Hearthfire reset or something...

It's still there, you can choose to adopt and everything

My House is also gone. In its place is a bunch of huge logs. Basically... everything I earned and stored in my house is also gone. My dragon bone armor, my dragon scale armor, my ghost swords, my completed quest items which I kept as momentos, my dragon scales and bones, EVERYTHING that was stored at the house is gone. My family, my kids, my armory, my statues of armor. My save file is from September 2013, so it was supposed to be a fun thing to go and re-visit my former triumphs and try to finish the game at lvl 61.

My hearthfires is checked, and also I have high res textures checked.

One of the problems with Hearthfires is that it is very touchy. It needs to be after Dawnguard and before Dragonborn in the load order. Unofficial patches also help.

One of the worst problems is caused by mods. Some require a Hearthfires patch to run properly. Others that have respawning as part of their action such as birds, animals, and vegetation or tress will conflict with the house space and can override it causing your house to disappear.

You should always read the authors notes and the mod requirements as well as running LOOT to keep your mods in their correct load order and give warnings of possible conflicts. Removing mods mid game will definitely bork your game.

@Kamikazi Flyswatter of Godspeed. There have been a lot of changes since 2013 including automatic updates of mods in Steam Workshop, some mods have been removed, others you originally subscribed to can have become unsubscribed and not be loaded in your game. You only have to check out some of the posts to see the problems

It might be due to mods. But the mods are pretty insubstantial otherwise.

I also installed a chicken follower mod yesterday, but I removed it when I saw my house was missing. I reloaded a save from before the chicken mod, but still no house.
