Does Destruction damage improve with your level?
So I was always under the assumption that the more you level up Destruction the more powerful it becomes, like leveling Enchanting or One Handed? But I never seem to notice any difference and even using Expert level spells, my sword does significantly more damage. I was told the Midas Magic Mod makes destruction more powerful but I think they meant it just adds more powerful spells :P

I had a look at this mod and it seems to be what I'm after. If anyone knows a better mod could you please let me know???

Magic damage doesn't imrove with character level - only as you take the appropriated rank perk, apprentice, expert, master, etcm along with any other perk that increaases magic damage.

Is there any way to tell how much damage an attack does?

AFAIK, no. But it is pretty straight forward. It is the listed damage on the spell, then either multiple by 1.25 or 1.5 depending on how many perks you have in the appropiate destruction elements.

Dual casting multiply by 2.2. Although keep in mind the mana cast is ridiculous, like 40% extra, so only worth it if you have lots of fortify destruction gear.

One thing I'm finding out is to build your destruction damage, choosing a Breton, then using the Magic standing stone makes a signifigant improvement in destruction spells even from the get go. Mind you, enchanted weapons still do more damage over a flame spell, have to find buy better spells soon.

IMO spells should have similar enchants to increase damage as do weapons. Enchants only improve spell cost and regen.

Well after looking at all the mods I ended up getting the one I originally posted. I'm level 50 with Destruction level 70 and my Incinerate spell now does 70 damage instead of 40. So yeah it's perfect with that mod I highly suggest it.

Also literally just got my Enchanting to 100 so now cost doesn't matter anyway.

The cost of spells will decrease as you level up. But the damage output does not. It never has in any TES game. To balance that out though, you can use Alchemy to create potions to boost your destruction damage.

I don't use any magic "fix" mods because I don't think magic is broken. It's a very balanced system overall, the only drawback I see is the lack of quick casting master level spells.
