Skyrim Texture Compressor Mod
I have heard rumours of a utility mod, that compresses texture files, greatly freeing up memory and so preventing the many CTD's that have made my game unplayable. I freely admit that I am probably using too many mods, which I have seriously culled back on my most recent play, but have hit something of a wall, with a serious bug that causes the dragon you fight at the Western Watch Tower at the start of the main quest, to not burn up and thus you can't get the first dragon soul and the main quest cannot proceed.

I don't know if this is a memory problem that the compressor might fix (If it exists) or is a problem maybe with me using an outdated version of SKSE.

If anyone can send me a link to either the Compressor mod or the latest version of SKSE, I would be very grateful.

The nearly all of the larger / better Skyrim texture mods have been optimized before being uploaded.

Textures are compressed by default, though occassionaly they are not optiminily compressed to the best file format (with or without alpha channel I believe). So don't expect major improvements unless you recompress them down to lower resolution, undoing most of the benefit of the mod anyhow. -- In other words, don't expect (most) texture mods to work well with lower end systems. Most of them are created in high resolution.

For SKSE, read C:\ HELP \ TIPS \ MODS \ ISSUES WITH SKYRIM ? (section 2) or just google it.
