Craftable Chests/Barrels?? (Solved - Thanks for the help!)
Does anyone know of a mod that lets you craft moveable usable chests and/or barrels?

Recently downloaded a player home mod, but it doesn't have enough storage or the storage is not in a convienent (?) location.

The problem with the ones I can find in the Wokshop & Nexus is that they are not just chests/barrel, they add a ton of other things to my crafting menu which is what I don't want.

I also don't want to have to download an entire home building mod just to get some extra storage, so if anyone can help or point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Thank You in advance for taking the time to respond to this post. Happy Gaming!

This doesnt let you craft them, but it does let you duplicate them for use, and move any object around in any way you want. Any mod that allows crafting of household objects will generally be of a lot of objects instead of just one or two. This is probably you best bet if you dont want a cluttered crafting menu

Vidani's Bag of Holding is a storage container that you carry in your inventory. It is very useful.

Otherwise Convenient Horses allows you to store items on your horse.

You could try s7o's Cache Sacks II, it lets you craft and place sacks which can store items. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=156367365

Nazenn, checked the mod, it may work for my needs, thank you.

Dexter, the whole idea is that I don't want to carry everything (food items) around with me ALL the time. What is the point of having a home if there is no place to store the things I need or want to keep?

Thanks, but no. I still want my home to be nice and neat. I don't think a bunch of burlap sack laying arround fits my needs. Thanks for responding though.

If you get Hunterborn you can collect animal carcassess. Stuff them in and pretend you're some serial killer.

I'm using Hunterborn, and by the way I am a serial killer and I know where you live! lol
Edit: Or I could collect all the skulls in Skyrim.

Also get that mod where you rip hearts out. And now you have a place keep your collectibles.

Theres a couple of mods on the workshop which i LOVE which add in skulls for all of the races, and also named skulls for the named dragons which is great if youre into collection and decoration.
Named Dragons Drop Skulls is the name of one of them. The other one is made by the same person but dont remember the name of that one

Serious response: This is a pretty simple fix, and probably the best time to begin your journey into creation kit. Go to the library tab, tools, creation kit. Download it, then start with this tutorial

http://www.creationkit.com/Category:Getting_Started

which will show you how to get set up and create/save your own .esp file. At the bottom of the page is a tutorials hub, with more job-specific tutorials. Make an .esp and create your own cell, like in the tutorial. Get comfortable with finding things, beds, barrels, chests, etc. in the object window and dragging them into the game.

Then, when you're ready, open creation kit and select the player home mod as your active file. Go to the house in your viewer, and drag/drop whatever barrels, chests, furniture, etc. you want, where you want, save and close, and test in-game. Make a copy of the mod first, and store it in its own folder, so if you do something wrong or don't like it, you can just delete and copy/paste it right back into place. We'll help you if you need it.

jreese46, thanks for the assist and I have tried the creation kit, followed the tutorials "TO THE LETTER" and each time the atempt has failed. I don't understand it, but that's why I don't mess with the creation kit anymore.

If you have specific issues with the CK, I've been having good success in creating my own housing mods, so let me know if I could help. Also, I recommend darkfox127's Youtube tutorials, as they are what I used to good effect on my first published mod.

It wouldn't be too hard to duplicate some storage containers at whatever location you want, though I'd need to know where, and I'd need to alter some navmesh if anything is going on a walking surface. I will admit the creation kit can be finnicky, but your particular issue wouldn't be a big job.

If you want, you can take a look at my page and decide whether you'd like me to pop out a quick custom mod for you (or use my available house mod if you change your mind, it was designed with storage and display in mind). I'm working on a larger project at the moment, but if all you want are a few safes in a row by a forge for storing metals by type, or strongboxes on a shelf for soul gem sorting, etc., it would be quite manageable to set down some non-respawning containers.

I understand, mpd. I ran into that while trying to learn blender. Consequently I only do retextures. lol

Out of curiosity, what is the mod, and is it here or steam?

You need Arod's Better Containers available in the Workshop and on Nexus. There are patches also available for the DLC's.

You can craft your own containers, includng the Alchemy type satchels, chests, trunks etc and put them in your inventory to take with you and position them where you want. You can also 'teach' your container what you want it to hold by following the books instructions.(Book included in mod).

For instance. Alchemy satchel taught what ingredients to include. When returning from a foraging expeditiion you can just press a key and any ingredients in your inventory that match are automatically removed and placed in the bag. Saves all those individual entries.

There are other options such as sending tems directly to your container even if you are not in the vicinity.

Edit: Oops. Just reread your post and you don't want anything other that chest or barrel. Personally I hate the barrels inside a home.
