Anyone else use restoration as a warrior?
I know I do. Don't know why there are so many people who rely on healing potions, some even on natural regen or food.

I find it easier to hotkey healing, and kite mob until full health than pause game, drink pots, unpause - plus its another skill to raise

Food and restoration...

It's also amazing when you get the stamina regeneration perk. Power attacks for days(as long as you use fast healing and not regular healing).

It falls outside the fighter skillset, so no.

I always use restoration on my warriors. Maybe because I enjoy playing paladin type characters in any game, so restoration feels natural for that archetype. I use potions occasionally as well, but I always hotkey both my shield and fast healing so that I can easily switch between them.

If I'm playing a Paladin yes, if I'm just a warrior, no.

Restoration was one of the major/minor skills for Crusader and Knight classes in Morrowind (and should have been in Oblivion too). But even if not a main skill, there's still no rule against using miscellaneous skills. It might not be D&D-pure, but we're not playing D&D here.

Why not use it, the more skills you use the easier you level up, Restoration and Alteration are the 2 magic schools i always use on a warrior type

@Brandybuck, the Crusader in Oblivion does have restoration as a Major skill but you're right that the Knight doesn't, the Knight uses Illusion

Yeah, if I have enough magicka fast healing is useful. Only if I have a chance to get away though, stopping in the middle of combat is never a good idea... long fights against legendary dragons is handy as they rarely attack continuously.

Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

[sarcasm]Because there playing warriors, not paladins?[/sarcasm]
I can think of a few reasons:
1: roleplaying.
They want to roleplay warriors, using magic or sneaking remove's the feeling of being a meatsheild.
2:Min-max mentality.
If you are going to build the strongest warrior you can you carefully consider where you want your perks to go, when to take mana, health, or stimina upgrade, what to wear(or if you craft it yourself or not.
3: Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic.
But magic cost mana to cast and a potion can heal you up quicker most of the time.(potions can also be favorite)
So if you are going to be a badass warrior why waste perks on a magic three when there are more important tree's to focus on[/puke]

Ugh....i will never understand the appeal of being a braindead meatsheild swinging a piece of metal around trying to hit something.
Atleast assasins and rogue's provide something of an imangination.
Trying not to get caught require's a certain creative mind after all.
I will just stick to my summons and spells.
Knowledge is power after all.

Healing is cheaper, not carry weight intensive, and is good for stamina regeneration aswell.

And here I thought the whole point of the system in TES was to play as I wanted. Silly me.

It varies. I rarely play a pure anything, anyway, but most of my warriors will at the very least have a basic healing spell that they can use in dire emergencies, just because it seems like a practical way to go about things, basically like a first aid kit. Even when I'm trying to focus on restoration I usually end up forgetting to actually heal myself in vanilla anyway because the health regen is so quick outside combat. In Requiem, I'm using it more because I don't have health regen unless I cast a buff spell or use a 'healing poultice'. My current character is a mage, so that works out okay for her, but my secondary that I'm planning to restart soon is a warrior and I'm not sure whether to have her learn at least the buff thing, or to rely on the poultices (they're sloooooooow though.)
