Companions quest "Take up arms" Vilkas bug

Ok to point out s few things before people give me the possibly suspected answers, I already have the unofficial patches installed, my skyrim is up to date as is the SKSE and I have checked both the Elder Scrolls Wikia and UESP for solutions but there is nothing.
Ok so I have encountered this problem with Vilkas when I go outside to train with him. I do not get a change to speak with him and he constantly keeps say about me using magic and then to hit him which it then loops repeating the process. The thing is I have removed all active spells from me as possible even making sure I haven't got a shout on and I have a normal armour, sword and shield. So has anyone encountered this problem and know how to fix it. I've never had this problem before but it has been over a years and a half since I last played this quest as I've recently started a new character.

Yeah, I've disabled those that I've added since the last time I did this quest but the problem remains. I've considered disabling them all temporeraly to see if I can get that part out of the way but I'm concerned about left over papyrus scripts (unless activating them reuses the scripts instead of adding new ones.)

May have to exit the game, relaod a different save. Then exit that and reload the previous. Sometimes that will reset it.

You did say "normal weapon", therefore, no enchants. Would count towards using spells.
